Hi,
I am an RN checking on some medications for a double lumen picc line. I would like to know if vancomycin and ceftriaxone are compatible with tubing? Can I use the same tube for these two medications? Or should the tube be discarded after the first medicine is administered?
Also does it matter what port I use on a double lumen picc line? Thank you for any help.

Generally you do not mix any "mycin" with any other med as a general rule. In my facility we do not mix any two ABT IV lines, seperate lines for seperate ABTs. Doesn't mean that some are not Y-site infused.

No, either port will work although as a general rule certain ports are designated for certain uses. Red port for labs, the others for drugs. Never seen anyone do it, we use which ever port works lol.
