I am a new RN. I have been working at a fairly nice, clean, and honest corporate run facility for 6 months. I have gotten a call back from the state veteran's home. I like the idea of state benefits. I would like to be in a situation to give more resident-centered care. I have 23 end-stage Alzheimer's patients where I am. I feel like I just shove pills at them, and run to the next one as fast as I can. Would it be different at the vet's home? Would it be better? Would it be worse? I just don't know. Can someone advise me?

Our county LTC facility is the best around in this area. Better than most private run facilities. The VA homes in this area seem to be run well. I've heard from several people that work at them. Great team work among nurses and CNAs. See if you can shadow someone to see how the units actually run. I can tell you that we have 16 units in my facility and they are all run different depending on the nurse manager.
