Are you retired?

Hi!

I will be retiring in the next few years. What are you doing as a retired RN or are you going to be doing in the next few years as an RN? Thanks for the input!

Specializes in NICU, Infection Control.

I retired in July, 2002. My son and I took a 9000 mile cross country trip that lasted 6 weeks.

Currently, I am working ~ 6 shifts/month @ a level II nursery in a community hospital about 10 mi away. I'd like to do that for the next 5 years or so. The hosp from which I retired was a Level III NICU in a university teaching hospital, about 18 miles from my home.

I also volunteer @ a local library ~ 4 hours/wk, and hold babies in my old unit once in a while.

My retirement income is adequate to pay the bills, but the extra work gives me 'partying' money.

Good to hear from you!

I'm an NP who works in Family Practice out of Central NY. I'm looking down the road a ways at 50. I hope to travel too.

Like most I've talked to, it sounds like you're busier now then when you were full time. Am I correct?:)

Thanks for sharing! Best wishes to you!
