:banghead:Hi...I am completing my first year in IPN & recovery! It has saved my life! I am now seeking a job in the nursing field and for 6 months it has to be "nonclinical." It really limits my prospective employers. I can go to a clinical job in Feb 2009 IF I find a nonclinical position. Does anyone have suggestions where to focus my attention?

Plenty. I had that restriction also, but it inadvertently brought me into nsg admin where I am very happy. Some non-clinical positions that I have seen include those in LTC (MDS coordinator, Infection Control Coordinator, Staff Development - careful though, some of these jobs include being on call which means you'll have to take a cart if someone calls in. There is also Clinical Research, Case Management, and Utilization Review just to name a few. You also have to be clarify if your contract means "no pt contact" which some of these jobs do have pt contact, but not clinical in nature. I see you're from Fla; there is a great web site for tons of these jobs at www.fcha.org (Fla Health Care Assoc). Good luck!

another possibility is phone triage. many nurses in my nurse support group worked that. they loved it. after 6 months, most of them even worked from home.

I used to wonder if there were really nonclinical nursing jobs as well and then a friend gave me this article: http://www.jacksonvilleu.com/nursing-degree-resources/non-clinical-nurse-options/ . I feel like this article was very helpful because I never thought I wanted to teach nursing but now I think that it would be a great opportunity for me.
