Are there any Oklahoma students on board?!

I was wondering if anyone from Oklahoma is on this board, and if so, where you attend nursing school. :p

Nurs2B thanks. I am sure its something that no one likes to do at all. But what you said is true, its not like the patient likes for us to do it either, how humiliating for them. I know if I am ever in a situation like that I would hope the nurse that would have to clean me would be OK with it and at least save the gagging for the bathroom....lol

Vonda I will have to take a look at What Smart Students Know. Have you read any of it yet? What do you think? I looked at it on Amazon.com and it got really good reviews. That other book looks good to, I like just about everything as well.

Marilyn,

I'm on page 57 now. I've been taking advantage of spring break...lol. So far it's a very good book. The guy who wrote the book gives excellent tips for studying, taking notes, and reading boring material "actively". I think it's a really good book for anyone who feels the need to establish good study skills or brush up on their study skills. I'd definetly recommend it. It good very good reviews on Barnes and Nobles.com as well.

I'm going to squeeze in some time everyday to work on the Algebra book. I want to brush on my Alegebra skills definetly.

It might be a better program, I will have to look into it. I just have never liked OCCC for some reason, I think overall Rose is a better school. But I do need to look into OCCC nusing program since it is literally right across the street from me!!

Anyone in the OCCC Nursing program? How competitve is it to get in? Any info? How do you all know which programs are better? Just word of mouth?

Marilyn

I am trying to get in the Nursing program at OCCC the Spring of '08. They work off a point system also. Here is a link stating the req.

http://www.occc.edu/Admissions/CareerLadder.html

The cut off for points as at 16. With them taking 60 students each semester.

I hope this help you some what.

Thanks, Gina

One of my friends has taught at several different nursing schools here. OBU has the best pass rate for the NCLEX (Rose is a close second). OSU OKC has the lowest (they've recently changed their program and I guess they haven't found their feet yet). OU is not bad, it's somewhere in the middle.

:)

Who said OSU-OKC had the lowest passing rate? This is so untrue, I am a 3rd semester nursing student there and graduate in May. Our last graduating class has had a board passing rate of 100%, what other school can say that? We actually have one of the highest passing rates of all the nursing schools in Oklahoma, Awesome program, tough though!!

Specializes in Urology, ER, Urgent Care (as nurse aide).

I am from Oklahoma. I am in nursing school at The University of Tulsa.

Wow. I was in shock reading these posts until I realized they were from a few years ago!

OU is starting new grad RNs a little over 19 an hour. Everywhere I've looked at is very competitive to that salary. Most hospitals require you to work for them for a few years before you can go per diem and make more. But then you don't receive any benefits.

I am in my final year at OCCC. And I love it. It is tough, though. As well it should be.

Our school's NCLEX pass rate is in the 90's.

Just thought I would put that out there,...
