Are LPN's really nurses in the eyes of RN's

Published

I am an LPN and would like for all of the RN's to be honest and answer this one question. Do you as RN's really consider an LPN a nurse? Please reply and explain why you answered yes or no. Thanks so much for your opinions.

A RN can override what a LPN decides on what to do with a patient...You have to keep that in mind..So in some places, they are not nurses in terms of independent thinking

No, you're wrong.

In ALL places, a licensed practical NURSE are nurses. They may be nurses with limited opportunity to decide on the final care plans of the patient, but they certainly are nurses.

Because an RN at certain facilities is able to override decisions that have been made by the LPN does not negate the abilities, duties, or qualifications of said LPN.

An MD or even NM can override my plan of care for a patient, but that doesn't mean I'm not a nurse.
