While going through the threads, there are limited information regarding NYC Manhattan/Goldwater/Brooklyn Adult Learning Center LPN Program. We are looking for Graduates-Current Students and others, who is/was familiar with the Application - Registration - School Hours- Payment Process- Clinical Location - Staff - Preparation for the Nclex Exam- Would you recommend this school - and any other miscellaneous information, you think we might need. We need help Fellow/Future Nurses. Let's pass on the information!!!!! 2015-2016

Specializes in Critical Care.

If you search on allnurses all the information you are looking for is available. That being said

Application is through December and testing starts january to may/june and that if you pass the cnet admission test you will be interviewed at coler goldwater and take another test tabe or teas I believe?. You are then offered admission. IF you are not offered scholarship then you will have to pay 1/2 by sept and another 1/2 by jan. school hours is about 9-3 or 4 I think and many students stay to 6-8 to study. Clinical location is at surrounding hospitals mostly City hospitals. HHC. Staff are all adequate some obviously love nursing more than other. But there's a lot of self studying involved. I absolutely recommend this school.

BALC is a LPN school?

Do you know where you will work after you graduate.? HOw are the success rate of employment after school?

Hi, I just ordered the study materials and plan to take the c-net at the end of Jan. I'm going to study hard because I need to get accepted in the program. Math is not my strong point so I'll be focusing in on that the most. Does anyone know if any of the center offer a prep program? What study materials are you using or have used to study for the exam? Best of luck to all.

Hello,

I graduated from BALC June 2014. First off the program is free!! You do not pay the school anything. You do however pay for your books, uniforms, and ATI. The program is full time mon-fri 8A-4P. It starts in Sept ends in June. You start by taking the CNET and then if you do well on that then they invite to take the TEAS. IF you pass the TEAS then you get an application packet to fill out and bring back. At the interview you have to write an essay and you hand in yor application packet, and they ask you some questions. But nothing serious. I heard back via email that I was accepted into the program in July.

We did clinicals at a nursing home first and then med/surg, peds, and icu clincals at Kings County. NCLEX prep is through ATI.

The program is very intense the first few months, but once you start clinicals in late Jan-ealry Feb, it eases up. But honestly once you get in the groove is fairly easy. JUst do your readings and listen in class and you'll do fine. The hardest course was Pharm just because there's alot of drugs to remember, as well as their actions, side effects, etc. So if you can get a jump on that life will be easier for you in the program.

Also Goldwater was closed down due to funding so there is only BALC and the Manhattan campus in HArlem, each campus takes 60 students.

I would recommended this program to anyone who wants to become an LPN. It's quick and free! I know so many ppl who has like $30,000-$40,000 in student loans from othe LPN programs. So, this program is good. Stick through and you'll be happy you did.

As far as the NCLEX, it was so easy!! I stressed myself out worrying about it and I didnt take it till Sept. And when I was done I knew I had passedl Everything I had questions on we talked about at some point or another during school. I dont anyone who failed the NCLEX. Everyone I know passed on the first try. I work at a Nursing home in Queens and another in BK, thru an agency. So there are jobs available right after you pass the test. Any other questions feel free to ask!! Good Luck!!

Can I have the address and phone number to call please. Thank you
