Are there any GEORGIA pre-nursing students here?!?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm applying to every nursing program around Atlanta with hopes of being accepted to one of them at least. Fall 2014 is my hopeful start date. Are there any other pre-nursing students on here that are hopefully starting around that time too?

Where are you applying to?

Have you taken the TEAS and if so, how did you do?

How is your GPA?

Hope to meet some new friends and take this crazy ride together!!

Cheers!!

I am in Georgia as well. My science GPA is 4.0, overall is 3.75. Finishing up the last of my pre-reqs to apply for Fall 2014. It's exciting to finally be at this point! I am taking the TEAS next month. I will be applying to Emory and Mercer for sure, still narrowing down 2-3 safety schools.

I'm a GA prenursing student! :) I'm currently at Gerogia Perimeter, so that's where I'll be applying. This semester is my last one for prereqs. I'm taking English 2, Research, A&P 1 and 2 (7 week courses). My GPA is a 3.75 thanks to my English 1 teacher who gave me a B. I haven't taken the TEAS yet. I'm shooting for October or November. I'm so excited yet scared too! Classes start tomorrow for me.

There's a link to the prereqs on that page :)

Last year they did not require the TEAS V, but they have not stated if it will be required this year or not. They also require a resume with work, leadership, educational, and volunteer experience, as well as a personal statement. All the info is in that link. I went to an info session and fell in love! The campus is breathtakingly beautiful and the program and resources available to students are top notch.

Georgia pre-nursing student here!

You all have great gpas! I have a 3.4 :grumpy:

Anywho, I used to go to Southern, so naturally that was one of the schools I applied to. Total this year I've applied to 7 and going to apply to 3 more, some out of state. Good luck getting in everyone (though I'm sure I need it more) ;)

Yay! Finally someone who used to attend Southern. Why did you transfer? & when did you apply there?

Good luck to you! I'm sure you will get into one of the schools you applied to :)

I am a Georgia pre-nursing major here. I am waiting on my decision letter as we speak. This process has been long and nerve wreaking to say the least. My overall GPA is 3.4-3.5. I didn't have to take the TEAS instead I had to take the Kaplan for Brenau. Just waiting for my chance.

I'm a Georgia BSN nursing student at Mercer university. Looking good, you guys! Keep up the good work :) it's a rough journey, but so worth it.

How do you like it? I will be applying there for next Fall.

Hey yeah I was there 2011-2012. I loved it. I had finished all my pre reqs and really didn't need to stick around since I wasn't admitted into the nursing program yet.

If I get an acceptance, I'll definitely go back.

Honestly, I love Mercer. The campus is in a nice, secluded location and the faculty is wonderful. They truly want you to succeed and are willing to assist you in any way that they can. You have the same lab group as clinicals and you work with your clinical instructor in lab, so you know exactly how you'll be evaluated during evaluations. Mercer puts most of its focus on the hands-on aspect of nursing, whereas many other schools put more emphasis on textbook learning, so you'll be spending about 12 hours every week either in lab playing nurse with simulation dummies and your classmates, or you'll be volunteering at senior centers or actually working at your clinical facility.

Your first semester you'll take Patho/Pharm, Fundamentals, Community Health, and Professionalism of nursing. One of my favorite things about classes here is that they aren't only taught by one professor. All of your professors come together and teach different portions of each class. For the first 6 weeks, you can expect to be on campus every weekday from 8-3, but you'll typically have every Tuesday or Wednesday off and even some Fridays.

There's also a lot of emphasis on community service and student involvement here. The facility really wants you involved with the national student nurses association and will give you excused absences from class to attend conferences, and you will have to log mandatory community service hours.

I was stuck choosing between GA State, Kennesaw, and Mercer and couldn't be happier with my choice.

I'm applying to Georgia Perimeter College next semester. My program GPA is a 3.8 and my overall GPA is a 3.75. I haven't taken the TEAS yet but I plan on doing it before November. I am taking 12 credit hours this semester and I'll have A&P 2 and Microbiology left afterwards.. (well for my ASN degree) I have about 5 other classes I need for my BSN degree.. but I don't plan on getting my BSN until after I get my ASN.. So as long as I finish my core before I graduate, then I'll be okay. PRAYFULLY I get into the GPC nursing program, that's the only one I'll probably qualify for. Most BSN programs want you to have at least all of your science classes completed before applying.
