Are C-Section babies supposed to be hard to get out?

When my sister was delivering my second nephew (10.5 lbs) the doctor had to actually get on top of the table, stradle her and yank to get him out. Is this normal? Does it happen frequently? They first used the vacuum but it didn't work! I just can't imagine. He did have a swollen red squishy area on his head about the size of hamburger bun afterwards, which scared the hell out of me but it did eventually go away.

Now he is 18 months and just doesn't seem to be as developed as he should be. I know every baby is unique and maybe he'll come along. I just worry sometimes:(

They were a little concerned when he was smaller because his head is rather large but nothing ever came of it. I pray that he'll be fine. I just thought I'd ask you experienced nurses your opinion.

Thanks:)

Yes, this happens sometimes. Huge baby, huh?

Sounds like what you're asking is should she file a lawsuit???

No, not really. I guess I am just wondering if he is ok? Everytime I see him it just seems like something is off. He is as cute as a button with huge blue eyes but he doesn't have a whole lot of facial expressions and he doesn't talk much at all. Like I said maybe he is just a slow developer. I think I am just wondering if we should be concerned about his behavior?

Unfortunately, we can not give medical advice on this board.

It sounds like you need to discuss this with your sister and she needs to discuss it with her pediatrician. As above poster stated, we can't provide medical or legal advice and there is a wide variety of "norms' for kids.

Take care.
