I'm doing my last preerq courses, and I was thinking about buying a digital voice recorder, hoping that I can use it throughout nursing school as well. But someone told me that the nursing school they went to wouldn't allow voice recorders for core nursing courses. I was wondering if this was the norm? Or is this the exception?
Are you able to use voice recorders during lectures?
We're allowed to use them in both theory and lab, but if the instructor wants to talk about a particular real-life case she encountered as an example of the concept we're talking about, she'll ask us to turn the recorder off for that portion of the discussion. We can then turn them back on after that part of the discussion.
yes..we can have recorders, it been a god send esp for the 2 hour lectures after an exam when its easy to lose focus. I like it because I can focus on what the professor is saying and worry about writing the details later. Its amazing how often I ( and classmates) honestly thought we paid attention in class only to listen to the lecture and miss some important points or pick up on the professors tome when she emphasizes something important..it greatly improved my grades

It never occured to me that some schools prohibit voice recorders. Sorry to hear that. My school apparently allows it, my Patho/Pharm teacher even pauses it for some of the students and tell them if it did something unusual.
