Are you allowed to use a calculator on the TEAS test 2017

Published

Hello everyone i will be taking the TEAS test in February of next year 2018( pretty soon). I wanted to know will they provide you with a calculator on the computerized version of the teas test during the math section? I need answers from those that have taken the test RECENTLY!! I have heard changes has been made on the test!!! I am currently studying for it i just want to prepare myself the best way i can.

Yes. It's a very basic digital calculator. I took the test in July.

Awesome! Thank you for responding!! :)

What book are you using to study for the text?.Any suggestions on what book to use?.Thanks and all the best.

Hi Ida,

I am using the McGraw-Hill Education: 5 TEAS PRACTICE TESTS book (Third Edition); it was regular $28.00 but i found it cheaper on eBay! Other students who have taken the test in the past recommended this book and i actually love it! It tells you what to expect on the test, gives you great study tips for the test, and (the obvious) it gives you 5 test to practice with and you have all the explanatory answers for each one! Right now i am going through test 1 to see what i know then afterwards i will go back and see what I'm weak in! For an example, if i forgot how to solve a certain math problem i go search the web or watch a video on you-tube to refresh my memory on how to solve that problem. I hope this helps you! Let me know if you have anymore questions and good luck on your testing! :)

If this helps at all, I found the test really fraction/ratio/decimal heavy.

Science was the hardest part, though science has arguably been my strength in school. You have to read the questions VERY carefully to make sure you understand what they are asking for.

It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be though. I scored an 83, which is in the 92nd percentile.

Good luck!

How long did you give yourself to study? I'm not sure how much time to give myself. I feel confident with my sciences but just want to play it safe.

I have been studying the TEAS exam, but in another county in the state that I live, they have a different test. It consists only of math and language, no science. I need a 63% on each section. I had a 63% on grammar, whiched really surprised me, because I am (I thtought) good in language arts. I got an 85% in the math section. I didn't use a calculator. I'm too old fashion. Anyway, does anyone think that taking this entrance exam is just an easy way in? (The school made a point of being a little ignorant of science on the exam, so we are all taught the same knowledge in class.

I have a friend who just took the teas test yesterday and she told me that it was not as bad as most people make it out to be!...I honestly do not understand why your test didn't have any science questions that is odd. For some students it may seem like an easy way in but for others it is not. Honestly, I've known plenty of people who have past the teas test, got into their nursing program, and then dropping out of the program. You got in the program but will you last?.... is the question for many students. And that is nice you are old fashion! Good for you!! :)

Did you pass? Was the book the only thing you used to study?
