ARC SCC ADN/RN Fall 2018

Published

Hello all,

I am applying for the Fall 2018 ARC SCC cohort and was looking for a group to join; I didn't find one so I thought I would make a post.

Are there any students who already have Bachelor's that are applying to the program? I am looking into funding and what to do for work while in the program because we do not qualify for aid.

Is anyone applying for scholarships? Anyone going to be working full-time during the program?

Also, is anyone else having trouble finding a TEAS testing time around Sacramento?

Good luck everyone!

SCC selects both fall 2018 and spring 2019...they only accept apps once a year

Yes I got the email from the losrios gmail.

And thank you! First time applying too. Hope to see some of you guys soon!

Woo hoo!!! Got my Spring 2019 acceptance from SCC. Super excited and in disbelief!

What time did u receive the email?

Hey guys, I also got the spring acceptance to SCC. So excited. Good luck to you all too!

Just got my denial letter from SCC...so disappointed. Good luck to everyone! Hope you get better news!

Anyone else get acceptance to the Fall 2018 class at SCC? I got mine tonight!

I got mine too!!! So excited! Congrats!!!

I am so excited, I couldn't believe I got in first try. I kept checking my email to make sure they didn't send a retraction email lol.....I have to call them Monday about getting my packet. I am still in Alaska and was planning on flying down for the orientation and then moving down before schools starts but they want us in person to pick up paperwork before May 4. If orientation is near the 4th its not a problem but I don't want to fly down twice so I need to see if a family member can get my stuff for me.

Oh I bet it will all work out! I couldnt believe it when I got the email either. First try for SCC, 2nd to Sierra and Sac state and 3rd try to ARC. Can't wait to meet you!

Back when I was a student at SCC, I got my acceptance letter and they started things a couple weeks later. They'll need you to be there to pick things up and they will hold orientation before Final's Week. It's just too insane to do otherwise. They need you to be there because that's part of the process of getting things started. This is all part of the process of getting you used to the idea of following directions exactly so you'll need to actually do what they need you to do. There's going to be deadlines and tasks to complete so be ready to get things done quickly. You may need transcripts, certification cards, immunizations, and so on. There's going to be a lot of things going on in the background that you'll never see, but the busywork/paperwork stuff will ensure that you're properly placed in a clinical group and that there's no problems with you going to clinical.

So, to all the nursing students selected for the upcoming Fall and Spring Semesters, congratulations! You're in for a very interesting ride and make the most of the experience. The instructors are tough, generally fair, and they want you to succeed.

For those of you that have Bachelor's Degrees, you should still fill out a FAFSA and try to qualify for student loans, grants, and BOGG waivers. There's financial aid out there for you too but it is much more difficult. If you absolutely MUST work, I highly recommend finding a job that will be flexible with your schedule because you will get absolutely NO flexibility from any of the programs. You'll find that there'll be a portion of a semester where you may have to do an evening session for a few weeks (basically 4-8pm) and your preceptorship in your final semester will have you attending clinical with you following your preceptor's schedule, unless you're in class on a given day.

Thanks. Hopefully I can streamline the process so I can go down to ca and do everything at once. They already have my official transcripts, my cpr and immunizations are up to date. Ill call monday and see what they say, maybe I can turn it all in at once or get a power of attorney so a family member can turn stuff in for me. My husband is Army and stationed in Alaska but getting out in a few months and my family is in CA along with his. The army life always complicates things lol.
