APRN licensure

Has anyone completed a nurse practitioner program while in a monitoring program? Will this affect me when trying to get my APRN license if I have been fully compliant?

Need more details in your question. In California, specifically Maximus' Diversion Program, all records are destroyed contingent on successfully completing this very long program. So, it should not affect you, however, if finishing your NP during the program your panel, i.e. DEC, Diversion Evaluation Committee, may have a say in your NP program while you are still being monitored.

If probation, you will permanently have a mark on your nursing license viewable by the public online. In my opinion, ask your case manager first. I wouldn't want you to ruin your chances just yet if you go directly and ask you NP program counselor. Good luck to you!

If you finish your NP, honestly, you will be held to a higher standard. Bottom line, you will be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, it's a very real title! A lot of expectation is expected from one.

For many APRN positions, you would need an unencumbered RN and APRN license in order to obtain a DEA. Would you be able to do so?

Not all jobs require DEA. Many NPs I work with choose not to get it. (Mainly due to cost). Dont let that scare you off. Also regarding unencumbered license...again, dont let that scare you off. I can write policies and job descriptions and update and make changes. Organizations change rules all the time. If you can get in a program. Do it! FYI. UT Houston had an NP program years ago with focus on addictions. Over 10 yrs ago. Saying that to let you know that schools educate on the process so I think they would support someone in this process. Keep on growing! Good luck!
