So who is applying for nursing school this year? And where are you applying?
I am applying to Concord Tech, Manchester Community(if they ever stop fighting with me) and Great Bay.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!:)
ahh, I applied to NHTI as well. I had all parts of my application in by December. I have not heard either and was also under the impression we would not hear until late March, early April. It makes me stress out a little less knowing you were both already students at NHTI but I am getting a little ancy wanting to hear if I got in!? I also applied to LRCC and Manchester Community. I am taking A&P at LRCC right now but MCC told me all my documents were not in? I don't know how that is possible considering the other two schools got them and they were all sent by the same schools at the same time???? Strange!? So I guess its just LRCC, NHTI or no where for me! ahh so stressed outtt! I just want to know!?!?
My post card from MMC said in March. I started looking at last year posts on this website and everyone seemed to find out around the 25th. They got even more applicant this year though so hopefully it won't be later or i will pull out my hair!!! Which is your first choice Ashley?? We should keep this post alive so we have other people to wait with...nobody around me understands why I'm stalking the mail man as much as you all do :)
I know the wait is making me sick! I want to apply for a phlebotomy job but i Dont know if i should apply for a full time job in case i dont get in or a part time job in case i do. I wish i knew the exact process. I know they say you get 20 points for the a&ps and then points for the refs. How does the every thing else weigh in? You have to have a 50% in all thress sections of the NLN but how do they factor those into "points"? And what;s the highest amount of points some one could get? I feel like i knew more about the process I would feel better. Looking back in the forums from last year there were people who got in to mmc but put on the waitlist for gbcc and vise versa but at the same time all the girls were posting thier scores and grades and you could see someone who got worse score then some one else put they got right in where someone with the better scores got waitlisted...it just seems like there is more to it then nln scores and points. Any one?
bump
mcc and nhti should hopefully be sending their stuff out hopefully within the next two weeks. but i was told that don't even bother calling gbcc until the first of april at least. i know at gbcc the nln scores are the most important thing they look at. then they look at your composite score. the a+p points are bonus points. but there was only like 4 people in the program for 09 that didn't have them (they had really high nln scores) so they really look for you to have them done. and then the references are considered bonus points, but they are given cuz you need them.
the a & p points are separate. you are rated on three things for the nursing specific admission. nln scores are rated by themselves and are averaged together, so the higher you achieve for a score on each section, above the 50 minimum score, the better your chances of getting into the program. this is actually 80% of the equation, pretty high...if they haven't changed it since i left.
the a & p points are bonus points really. if you successfully (c or better) completed both a & p 1 and 2, by the deadline...you get 20 bonus points. if not, you don't. in past years, this wasn't really a deal breaker or not, but last year all of the admitted 56 students to nursing had the points and had really high nln scores. so, do really well on the nln and having the points is really important to admission.
(this is from someone who use to do all the applications)
and dcoffill, i would apply for part time. so if you do get in, you can only work like 1 saturday or something a month and still have plently of time for school. and then on break you could pick up more hours.
well i was wondering the same thing. Looks like Im out of luck because I scored much lower then that! I think 90's are very good. I feel that the average is around the 70's and anything more is good, but I'm not sure. It depends on what the competition is. I heard rumors that most of the people who apply dont even qualify, and to those that do qualify most get in even if they get on waitlist. They have stressed that the NLN scores have to be high, but the teachers at the nursing meeting also said that the majority of people get in because other students either dont qualify ( didnt take NLN, straight out of highschool), or get waitlisted because students go to other schools. I dont know right with you on it all! Very nerve racking! I have every pre-req done and have nothing left to take so Im hoping I can get in.:uhoh3:
