Appointment with College Network tomorrow

Published

I have an appointment with an advisor from college network tomorrow for the lvn to rn and was excited that i was going to be able to get started so quick but after reading some of the posts I am having second thoughts. i still want to do it on line but do not know if i should spend all that extra money on college network if i do not need it. Any advice? i am lost!

In all honesty, I REGRET signing up with the COLLEGE NETWORK. I thought as a stay-at-home mom (well I work as an LVN about 6 days a month), this is the best route for me in getting my RN title. WRONG! I went to a vocational school for the LVN, therefore I have no other college credits except Psych 101. I signed up w/ TCN, and have like 15 study guides more or less including the 4 Nursing transition ones. I pay 172 a month, for 6 years. The TCN advisor/recruiter or whatever is a darn good salesman and saleswoman because I got SUCKERED.

This is killing me inside. I don't want to vent to my husband because I will never hear the end of it. For one, we are stuck w/ the 172 dollar monthly payments for 6 years. Or was it 5? lol. Still, that's a lot of money. I started studying a couple of the books, but it feels neverending. I think I rushed into this because of the stressed long waits for the RN programs near me. I figured out that I am more of a traditional student, and need an instructor in a traditional setting class. I am stuck in a mess. Does anyone have any tips for me? I know I'm in a contract, can I take this matter legally so I can somehow cancel? I want to go back to traditional school. GRRRRR to TCN! I wish I did more research. Goodluck to those who are in it and are doing well, more power. Nd' to those considering signing up, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... think twice, do majorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr research. I think this is the biggest stressor of my life. :uhoh3::madface::down::nono::down::down::down::down::down:

Wow. That's a lot. :( I did TCN but have most of my pre-req's done already so mine is $120 a month for 3 years and that includes the 4 pre-nursing ones. I'm gonna try and pay it off early though. Is there any way you can pay a big chunk of it or maybe all of it off with a tax return or something? Still a lot of money but you'd save a ton in interest. Have you actually opened all of your study guides? If you have some that are unopened and therefore returnable then there might be a chance (??) but not if they're opened.

chill1965, One quick question? What was the best way that you studied for the A&P test? I take the test in 2 weeks, and to no fault of my own just picked up the book, Needless to say I am so overwhelmed and screwed to say the least. If I may by some miracle pass this one I may be interested in your books if no one else is. THANKS!!

Honestly, I'd reschedule. I did micro in a month and got an A but there is WAAAAY too much information to learn in the A&P one to do it in 2 weeks. At least IMHO. I haven't taken the test but I've been studying and am taking in on the 21st so I don't know what it's like but the micro was pretty detailed. A few people on here have said the A&P was pretty intense.

Hello Kenzy

a lot I knew from working as a special forces medic in the army,a lot i knew from working, but I used college network A&P book along with a book called straight A"s in A&P and followed the content guide and high lighted what I needed to know in the books and then read them form front to back 5 times. it may not be the best solution, but it worked for me. I got a C,and I felt like I had failed, but surprize a C came up on the screen.its a hard test, but do able.good luck oh and the books are micro, concepts 2,and I may have a A&P,but they should all be in the rapper never used, but my personal A&P im keeping,it all high lighted

Don't do it! You will be paying a lot of money for something that you will most likely be unhappy about. They are only giving you study material...and not great study material in my opinion. Go to EC, find out the book list and then buy the books at Amazon. I bought all my books for around 200/used. I have taken all but two tests and passed with A's and B's. You still have to enroll with EC, pay the tuition, pay for the tests and practice exams, etc. If you really like TCN material, go to Ebay and find it there. At least the amount of money you will be spending wont be as bad. You will be forking out much more money than you have too. I hope this helps. Good luck with your studies. Jeanette

icunurse - Please PM me. For some reason I couldn't get my account to work to PM you.

I too went used TCN. I started in the BSN program and the advisor with EC suggest changing to the ADN program. When I contacted TCN they allowed me to return the books I did not need and I refused the new books. That reduce my pay back.

Hope this helps.
