Hi! Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program? Last year I applied and wasn't accepted. I believe they accepted around 12%. They had 70 spaces down from 90 the previous year.
@ElizabethH736 The accepted GPA is 3.2??? Seriously?!!!! because at many schools you basically know you won't have a shot.
Did any one you ask your chances of possibly getting in?
How many of you are from California/out of state?
Yup! I was pretty shocked when they said that. Although they do look at your grades, they seem to focus more on your SOP because they want to know your reasons for wanting to be a nurse.
I didn't ask anyone what my chances are of getting in. It was a pretty packed info session when I went and there wasn't really a chance to talk to someone one-on-one.
I'm from California and currently attending CSU Northridge.
@ElizabethH736 Awesome! CSUN has a great music program. I'm also applying to their ABSN program. I heard it's really really hard to get into their program.
@ElizabethH736. I think another factor to consider is some people went to schools which grades harder in some classes and some others went to schools which grades easier. In my opinion it's unfair to NOT take this as a factor to account. For example, I took chemistry at UCLA, with pre meds. Top 30% of the class equates to a B+ but a 3.3... I do not believe that the standards of community college are as high, as I've taken classes there and know transfers who have told me classes ARE easier at community college.

Hey lmkim1121,
I spoke to both of the people listed under the contacts for the program, namely RF (can't put full names up on the board). They are both really helpful and friendly though, and always are quick to respond through email. She was glad to give me a critique on my submitted (and denied
) application, but I don't think they would look at it before applying though. I went to an info session last year, and will probably go to the one this September. Honestly all of the information that they talk about is available on the website, I just want to actually meet the people who have been fielding my relentless phone calls and emails lol. They really stress the SOP since they don't have an interview. Like someone else mentioned before, they also harp on the CE program (haha maybe to enroll free labor...brilliant!)
