Applying to UC Denver Nursing School for Summer 2016

Published

Hello Everyone,

I recently submitted my application to the traditional BSN program at UC Denver starting Summer 2016. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread so that if anyone else is in the same boat we can give each other moral support, advice, etc.

I got an email back notifying me that the interviews are scheduled for Monday, November 16th. It also said we should expect to hear by November 2nd if we have been asked back for an interview. So nervous but also excited!

For anyone who has already gone through the process, I am so curious as to what the interview is like. So any helpful tips of information would be so appreciated!

Did you interview last year Kylee? Good luck!

Yes I did! I was also waitlisted. It is definitely a stressful process, but so worth it once I get in (however long it takes)!!

Kylee, can I ask whether you did anything different this year when you applied a second time?

Jasmine I'm hoping for the South Denver location, what about you?

Nope! I just edited my essay slightly and told them what I did to improve myself to be a better canidate. I shadowed a lot and got my pharmacy tech license (I already have my CNA), which has been beneficial to me learning medications. So just trying to take advantage of learning new things in the last year. :)

Klyee that's awesome! That sounds like dedication and I'm sure it shows! What would be your best advice for the interview process?

Did a lot of people interview last year?

Zoe- honestly, it is to just really think about why you want to be a nurse and do not try and prepare to hard for questions they will ask because then you are going to be so nervous about all those answers you prepared for. Let it come from the heart. & last year it was a group interview with around 4-5 people. Just be you and thats all you can do!

I think they said there were around 800-900 applicants last year and 400 interviews and around 150 spots. Somewhere around those lines.

Okay thanks for the tips!!

Kylee thank you so much! I also was wondering how formal was the interview? I know it's always better to be overdressed than under-dressed, but do you remember what most people wore for the interview last year?

Hello , I received and invitation to interview with the nursing school!! Super nervous but excited. My only dilemma is I'm deployed right now. Does anyone know if the school will do skype interviews? I've been unsuccessful at reaching anyone in the admissions office.
