Applying to UC Denver Nursing School for Summer 2016

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello Everyone,

I recently submitted my application to the traditional BSN program at UC Denver starting Summer 2016. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread so that if anyone else is in the same boat we can give each other moral support, advice, etc.

I got an email back notifying me that the interviews are scheduled for Monday, November 16th. It also said we should expect to hear by November 2nd if we have been asked back for an interview. So nervous but also excited!

For anyone who has already gone through the process, I am so curious as to what the interview is like. So any helpful tips of information would be so appreciated!

I haven't received anything either.. :(

This is the longest day of my life..

Where is everyone from? I'm from Anchorage, AK and the cheapest airline ticket is in the $700s...

That's insane the tickets are so expensive! I live here in Denver.

I live in Fort Collins so I will just drive down for the day, that is if I ever get this email.. But that's crazy! Is there no option for Skype interviews if you are out of state?

I'm actually not sure... I should probably ask lol

Well at least we are all in agony together, this is promising! How does everybody feel about the application? I have a decent GPA but haven't completed all my prerequisites. I am currently in Micro and STATS and will be taking CHEM next semester and thats all I have left! I feel like the essay went well and I have plenty of work related experience. Just not sure how an incomplete transcript is going to effect the process if its as close as I feel like it will be... I also feel like if I can get that interview it will be smooth sailing! If not I plan to apply to Regis in January but I sure would love to get into CU. Something about the idea of wearing those black and gold scrubs and going to a school with such a reputation just makes me feel so happy! All though to be fair, Regis has that going for it too, the anticipation is almost overwhelming tho! The sooner I know what school I can get into, the sooner I feel like I can breathe again!

I finished all my prerequisites except for A&P II, which I am taking now. Unlike you I didn't have a lot of work experience, but I do have a lot of volunteer experience. My GPA is a 3.6, which is what I am most worried about because I know it's not very competitive. I know what you mean about wanting CU Denver, it has been my top choice since I decided on nursing!! My back up school is Denver School of Nursing, and I will be applying there in the next few weeks. I'm glad all of us are in the same boat, I can barely focus on what I am doing today because all I can think about is receiving an email...

Everything the same!! I live in Fort Collins and completed my bachelors of science degree in August at CSU. I have a 3.6 as well and am working as a full time CNA. Denver school of nursing is my backup as well. I can't believe we haven't received anything I'm so nervous!!

Haha that's crazy, small world!! I was looking at a forum from last year for students applying for the Summer 2015 start, and something I came across was that they were all told that they would hear by October 30th, and then when the day came no one heard. Later that night they all got emails saying that CU Denver had received so many applications that they were extending the notice date. They all didn't end up getting emails until the next week, but everyone in the forum ended up getting asked back. Who knows if that will be the same situation for all of us.. But it definitely calmed me down to read over their forum. There are some tips for the interview too.

Here is the link to last years forum if anyone would like it:

I was reading that as well! The horrible thing is that I work until 10 tonight and can't touch my phone until after. The suspense is going to kill me!

Struggling right along with you guys! I've been checking my email NONSTOP!
