Applying to Nursing school (question)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

HI,

I am currently attending college and will be applying to nursing school in Jan. or Feb. One requirement is that you take the ACTs and score 18 or better. I am very nervous about this since I have been out of school for about 16 years. Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated. Any experiences any of you have had would be great as well.

Thanks so much.

Anne

The ACT is much much easier than the SAT, so make sure your taking the right one. Take a calculator with you for the math part (check to make sure its an allowed calculator).

ACT isen't really something you can study for, but you could take practice tests, and even go get a ACTivePrep CD to help you prepare. Its mostly comprehensive.. you read something, you answer questions about what you read.

The Math part you might wanna pay close attention to reviewing, because it gets a little difficult.

Get plenty of sleep the night before, eat breakfast so youll have energy, and dont be nervous!! Youll do great :kiss

My school didn't require any SAT or ACT scores if you've been out of school that long. Thankfully.

The schools here if you have been out of school that long let you take the COMPASS test which is like the ACT but I think it is easier. From it they base whether or not you have to take developmental no-credit courses or not. But anyway, I too am preparing to take the ACT and I have found Kaplan's study guide to the ACT really helpful. You can get it for about $10 on half.com.

Also there are several practice ACTs on different Web Sites. Try a google search.
