applying for nursing program

Hello good morning all. Im a little concern im a a surgical tech i work in NY and my job offers for me to go back and further my education so i choosed nursing. This past mdw i went away to vegas and i just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 yrs and he was out in vegas with his friends as well. Long story short things happen in vegas well he try to get me jealous and of course it was in public in a place were there was alcohol involved and lots of people. I wasnt myself and let the alcohol take over control and got the best of me i went up to him and smacked him. I got arrested for domestic voliance battery. I spent few hours in jail and let out on bail. I was told vegas this is popular and case should get dismissed but you cant listen to people in jail. he didnt press charges but case is still open and i havent got charged with anything im praying gets dropped i payed a lawyer to represent me. But if they dont drop the case can this possible prevent me from getting into a nursing program at a community college or university in ny or nj. Please any help will be appreciated this is driving me crazy every single day.
