Hi, was just wondering if anyone else here is applying as a nurse in Norway??

I am leaving on sept 8 and want to get in touch with other nurses who is planning/hoping to work in Norway..

Please send me an email or pm

Thanks :-)

For march 2013 applicants and onwards: Does anyone in the group received their visa already? Thank you.

Just had our interview last march 21, 2014.

What did they tell u during the interview? I mean how long do we still have to wait? I was interviewed last jan 2014 and they said dont expect a reply anytime soon! Sad! :(

There was no specific waiting times told during the interview. He just said that the processing period is longer than before.

Hi all. Great that all of you are getting jobs. Am an indian struggling 2 years for a nursing job. Time is not waiting....

So sad to know that after so many months of waiting, finally, UDI had released statement that the scheme to learn the Norwegian language is permanently closed effective May 15, 2014 but will still process previous application filed. Still praying and hoping for the best but preparing for the worst as well. I doubt if they will still give visa approval since they have announced for its closure.

HI, I justwant to ask why did you move to Canada? Coz i am in canada now and wanting to move to norway. Its difficult to transfer to RN here in Ca

Hi Robzxy, are you a Norwegian?

I am presently in Norway and received a rejection from SAK. That the education I have acquired is not the same as the Norwegian nursing education and so I would have to apply for admission into a university and apply for exemption of some courses. In Norway here the theory hours in nursing school is 2300 while the relevant hours that I have is 1320. I find it quite difficult especially as I have not even passed the Bergen test (Norwegian Language test). Now I am thinking of trying my luck in countries like UK or Canada.

Its quite disheartening. I guess most people in this forum that received their authorization are referring to health worker which is inferior to nursing here but superior to care assistant role.

Please is there anybody here that have applied for admission or have any advice for me?

I have also thought about leaving nursing. Quite discouraged. Did you later applied for admission and fritak as SAK has requested? Would it really take up to 2 years to complete and get a nursing authorisation?

I am in Canada. Perhaps the the gov't of Norway saw this huge sudden incline of internationally educated nurses thus changing their rules and qualifications to stricter ones. Canada now is doing the same on top of laying off of nurses. As of now, based on what I see among my fellow nurses across the globe, they are moving to Australia which has the easiest path to becoming a full pledged working Nurse.

Hi Katana,

Please have you gotten your authorization as a nurse in Norway? How long did it take and did you have to complete additional courses in høgskole here? Just being curious because I have seen that you love Norway so much while I feel the opposite.

If you took some courses in the university here, please kindly tell me how long it took to complete the courses.

Thank you

Yeah! I guess so too. Australia is really a nice place to live in and have an easier application process compared to Canada. I wish you the best. As for me, I am considering UK not because of the salary but at least to get me working as a nurse. I have 2 kids and expecting another so it will not be easy to relocate to Norway. Good luck dear.

Hi, did you go further with your application as a nurse in Norway. Are you in school now?

Did you later find out how long you would study to get authorization as sykepleier in Norway.
