Applying as a nurse in Norway, anyone else?

Hi, was just wondering if anyone else here is applying as a nurse in Norway??

I am leaving on sept 8 and want to get in touch with other nurses who is planning/hoping to work in Norway..

Hi ruthdimple88! What are you registering for? You are not required to learn the norwegian language first if you're applying for autorisasjon or the visa per se. Of course it is important that you learn the language, it's your weapon here in norway. But as far as registration is concerned, you need not learn the language first.

i just wanna ask if you know anyone who could help with accomodation letter?

im planning to apply as a student in norway to study the language, i have already completed my requirements aside from my accomodation letter as i dont know anyone from norway. i didnt want to go for agency coz they are charging me a lot.

just the accoomodation letter and i will just find a place when i get to norway.

Hi leela_fille! There are no accredited norwegian language schools in the philippines, but I'm not saying that it is unwise to enroll yourself in a norwegian language school prior to coming in norway. Once you get here in norway, it doesn't matter where you have studied the language back in the philippines, as long as you can speak and understand the language. Anyway, will you have a student visa to come here in norway?

Hi Khent, was just wondering if you know about the SAFH/SAK? someone told me it's easier to process the certificate when you're in norway rather than processing it in the philippines, How true is this? I was also oriented that I would still study language in norway for a year but can get a part time job. would it be wise to just process here or just in norway? What can you suggest about it? :) I hope you'll reply :) hehe

Hi Jeffyanne! I guess it is true for others, but not in my case. You see, i applied for autorisasjon som helsefagarbeider few days after my arrival in norway. It was february. Right now, I'm still waiting for my authorization. I've sent many messages to SAK through email, requesting an update. But they always answer that normal waiting time is around 6 months. Anyway, I have friends who applied for authorization when they were already here in norway, and they only waited for a few months. So I guess it's case to case basis. With regards to the visa, if you're applying for a student visa, you must study the language for a total of 1 year. But you are entitled for a part time job, provided that it would not exceed 20 hours per week. If you exceed, you must pay more tax (I'm not really sure how true is this though). I hope that helps. hehe thanks! that helped ^^ another questions if you don't mind. Does having a hospital experience really matter if you're applying as a hesefagarbeider? I just passed my board jan. 2013 and that really bugged me. -_- so khent, is it hard finding a part time job there? supposing you're still not efficient to the language..

With regards to finding a job here, it really is difficult if you don't know how to speak the language. They would interview you in straight norwegian, and you, as much as possible, must also answer in norwegian. That way, they could assess your language proficiency. It doesn't matter here if you have a hospital experience or none, but of course it could help. I also don't have any hospital experience myself, I just passed the board exams last june 2012. But I found a job here anyway. Bottom line is, your language skill is your weapon here. So you must learn it as fast as possible, if you want to succeed here in norway.

oh snap haha I'm doing self study now and probably would enroll in a norwegian school here in cebu. I'm gonna send in my SAK tomorrow too >.
