There's a job opening at a clinic near where I live, it's PT during the week, basically just taking vs, and prep the pt for the MD. So I got an application for the position, now my question is should I tell my current employer that I plan on applying for this position, or should I wait and see if I even get a call back?~B
I wouldn't tell them anything quite yet. Once you get the position, I would weigh both of the jobs out, just in case you decide you can take on 2 jobs rather then quitting your other job. Once you make your decision, then I would tell your current employer.
Never let an employer know you're looking elsewhere...If you got another job and gave a 2 week notice...some employers will tell you to "leave now". Or you may be treated differently and set up for the chop block in a subtle way.
Besides, you haven't even interviewed with this clinic yet! Always secure another job first! Just my opinion.
