Applying to jobs while waiting for License in the mail ???

Published

just sent my License Fee out on Monday , so it'll be quite some time before I receive it in the mail (3-4wks) I've seen people apply for jobs and send their resume to jobs AND get hired , all before they even had their License in hand . Has anyone done this? I at least want to start sending my resume out , but I'm not sure what should be in my resume , I have a lot of Retail experience which consume my entire resume but its not relevant to nursing at all. is that supposed to go on there or should I take it off ? I am so confused, should I put the volunteer work that I did during nursing school that's the only experience I have nursing wise. Help ! TIA

Yes apply and just be clear and said you passed the test and your license is on its way. Can't you see your license number on you BON page? If you do then put that number on the application.

Also your experience in other jobs, even if is not in nursing, shows you are able to "keep a job" and off course your voluntary work should be added.

Your license number should be on BON's website. I just got hired at a place and I havent gotten my license in the mail yet the lady told me to fax a copy when it comes in the mail.

Past 2 jobs, I didn't produce a physical license before applying...or starting.

CMS & TJC accept online primary verification as proof of licensure.

no unfortunately in California it can take up to 6 weeks for your license to post online & possibly another week to receive the physical license. It will be exactly 4weeks tomorrow that I have been waiting. I've tried applying but employers Verify your License online .
