Applying for this fall

Hey everyone,

Ok so I graduate from UTA's AP RN-BSN in May (coursework complete in March). Here's the dilemma. When it's over with I'll only have about a 3.02 GPA due to a couple of stupid mistakes. I also took the GRE and made a 158 Verbal/150 Quantitative/4.0 Writing. I'm applying to every online FNP or PNP program that I can find. So far I've applied to:

UTA (PNP)

UT-Tyler (FNP)

Texas Woman's (PNP)

Texas A&M Corpus (FNP)

Univ. South Alabama (RN-DNP PNP)

Baylor (FNP)

Vanderbilt (PNP)

I know some of these are going to be rough to get into. Does anyone feel like posting a success story with a GPA/GRE similar to mine?? :( Feeling really discouraged. I know competition is fierce for FNP and probably so for PNP too.

Anyone have any other online or hybrid (2-3 trips to campus per semester) programs that they are in or know of?

    I can't provide I success story, but I am in the same boat. Graduated in May with a BSN but only a 3.14, applying to FNP/PNP programs now for the fall. However, I'm applying to on campus programs, not online. I'm super worried about my GPA holding me back, just hoping that a good essay and letters of rec can help!

    Drexel has PNP and FNP online as well. No GRE. I can't help you with GPA...I had a 3.81 or 3.75 (can't remember) when I got accepted into drexel.

    But wanted to let you know about another school online with but NPs.

    Drexel is an actual brick and mortar school that has online programs...it is accredited; I live in the area where Drexel University is based. :yes:

    Absolutely. Drexel is a major university in Philadelphia, PA. No concerns for down the road!!!

    There are onsite requirements but not many...3 or 4 for a few days at a time. You could do acute or primary PNP or both (story is acute is being announced for 2014. I'm also hearing rumors of other dual track NP options but I don't have details.

    Walden I only hear stuff here on AN and just head a lot of talk about being subpar but I have no idea what that is based on. Chamberlain...their programs are new and not available in every state. I did my RN-BSN through them and was very happy...but no clue about their FNP.

    Have you thought about staying at UTA for the FNP? The online FNP academic partnership program just started. The minimum GPA without a GRE is 3.0. Plus being an alumni could only help your chances. The program is only open to Texas residents, and they respond quickly to requests. Please check it out. Best of luck to you:smug:
