Hello, I am applying to Duke's ABSN program for the fall of 2016 and am wanting to chat with anyone else who is in the same boat! I'm wondering how hard it will be to get in based on GPA, prereqs etc.
Are there any current Duke students who would be wiling to share what their profile looked like before they got in? If they were wait-listed and got in?
Any information would help!
@bme_rn2b Hi! Thanks for posting! I think Duke's cohorts tend to be pretty diverse, and don't worry, I'm not a traditional student, either - also have an MA in another field, and I'll be 31 in May. I'm sure we're not the only ones!
I'll be attending the April 8th Duke Day, so I'll let everyone know how it goes!
Hi all - congrats to those who were accepted! I'm excited to have been accepted, but the cost of the program is daunting! Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend Duke Days, but I'm looking for a roommate as well. I'd be moving from Minnesota and I'm not familiar with the Durham area - does anyone have advice about the various neighborhoods? Ideally, I'd like to live within a 15 minute driving distance.
Hey guys, congrats to all who were accepted! I am very excited to have been accepted as well. I'm wondering what everyone's background is and if anyone know what a typical student cohort looks like? I'm a bit older and have a master's degree in another field, and I am wondering if most Duke ABSN students are straight out of undergrad? Not that this is a dealbreaker, just curious about my fellow students. Did anyone end up making a Facebook group? I can do it if no one else has. Also, I can't make it to Duke Days so let me know your impressions!
I'm 25 with a BA in another field. I took a few years off to figure out what I truly wanted to do before continuing my education. Incredibly glad that I did.
Also, I'd love to start a FB group. But it's telling me I need one other friend or email to create the group. Can you PM me your email? Or better yet, find me on FB. Name is "Cassandra Nell" with an Om next to it.

Hello! I'm not straight out of undergrad either. I graduated in 2011 and have been working in neuroscience research since then. I was originally thinking of doing a PhD after college, but decided to go a different direction after working in clinical research and realizing I wanted to work more closely with patients.
I'm also 25 with a BA in Economics. I graduated in 2013 and spent a couple of years finishing my prerequisites and volunteering.A Facebook page has already been created by the DUSON faculty. Look up Duke ABSN Fall 2016. You'll need to provide your duke email address to join. :)
Oh, weird. For some reason it didn't pop up the first time I searched. Thanks!
