Applying to 10 different nursing programs?

Nurses General Nursing

Hello all, I'm enrolled at a university that does not have a nursing program or offer certain perquisites that I need to transfer out into certain nursing schools. So since I've already deposited the $500 on my dorm room I will have to attend this college. However, I will be applying to ten different nursing programs for the next spring semester to broaden my options and acceptance chances. Which are 4 safe schools, 4 good schools, and 2 high reach schools that are highly selective.

It will probably cost me around $300 to apply to all these schools + an extra $130 to request ten transcripts, then retake my ACT to score a 22 because I initially scored a 21. I aso would have to take three admission exams and get over 40 copies of various things the schools may need (résumés, recommendations, essays, ect).

I need to get all this in before Oct.1.

Now does anyone think I may just be overdoing myself just a tad bit? I'm just very afraid that I won't get accepted into a school because my friend applied to eight nursing schools and only got conditionally accepted into one.

Also how many nursing schools did you apply to before you got accepted?

Have fun and take core classes this fall. Enjoy the college atmosphere before you'll have to buckle down to nursing school. And apply to any/all nursing schools that meet your requirements, just don't spend too much.

After one semester in college, your ACT and GPA typically no longer matter. I would focus on doing well on the TEAS and getting good college grades. The direct entry schools in Illinois (I don't know where you live) won't admit you directly if you have completed one semester of college. I understand you did well in high school, so I guess you'll just have to work hard in college now! Get good grades in your prerequisites, and apply to some nursing schools. You can already apply traditionally you know. Applying to 10 seems to be going overboard, but if you have the money I guess it's not a problem!

My question is, why apply to four safe schools? If they are all safe, just apply to the one you want the most out of those four. The other 3 are just a waste of time. Apply to one safe school and that gives you more time for putting 100% into the challenging ones.

Update: I am not doing a full year at my current university for my Ged Ed because the direct entry nursing programs don't start their nursing courses until sophomore year. So now I will only be applying to 3 safe schools; 2 good schools; and 2 high reach school. Which will cost me only $40 in total for the application fees + the $30 for transcript request (I'm not paying this out of pocket but I will be using my scholarship refund money). I will also need to take the Kaplan Admission test (I don't know if the if the test cost yet but it looks to be free). Also these schools do not require prerequisites since they are direct entry programs.
