applying for CA jobs - letter of intent

U.S.A. California

Published

So I'm trying to write my Letter of Intent for a job that I'm applying to... It turned out to be longer than I expected it to be. The general guidelines online say to keep it around one page or shorter... However, the job I'm applying for is asking for specific topics to be addressed. Is it okay to make my Letter of Intent longer than one page? How long is too long?

Cover letters should be no longer than 1 page, with at least 12 pt. font. Recruiters generally scan over a letter or resume in the 1st 5 seconds to decide whether it goes in the no pile or the maybe pile.

The first 2 sentences in your letter is where you will want to sell yourself and grab the reader to what ever it is they want. If they don't like what you have to say in those 1st few lines, forget about the rest of the letter.

Resumes, while favor 1 page, are accepted as 2 pages.
