I am very excited! I submitted my application for the cpne. I applied to NPAC sites; Albany, Utica, and Chambersburg. I put for an August 09 teting date. That gives me 4 months to get comfortable with the material and practice until my hands can complete every task in the skills lab by itself. I waited so long for this time to come and now that it's here, it's hard to believe that I am in a position to finally become an RN. I recieved the FCCA today in the mail, and will Start that tomorrow and try and finish it up by Wed. It's due back by the 10th of April. Then I can lay the ground work for studying and getting ready to performance on BROADWAY!

Thanks for listening family,

Dawn

Awesome! Congrats on the application- that is a big step.. good luck with your studies:D

Hey Dawn,

I applied to all NY sites on 2-27 and already received a date for 6-26 Utica. Did you put yourself on a cancellation list? I haven't rec'd my FCCA yet, could you let me know how it goes?

It's nice to be at this point...yet I am really nervous and I still have less then 3 months to go.

No, I didn't put myself on the cancellation list because I was afraid of getting a date too soon. Is that what you did to get a June Date?

I put 5/1 for when I would be ready to take the CPNE and put myself on the list. I rec'd the email a few weeks later with my date and place. They didn't specify whether it was a cancellation date or not. I wouldn't have been able to go sooner then my date now that I have been studying. There is alot to cover.

Just curious - What is the FCCA?

Focused Clinical Competencies Exam. It's EC's three-part exam that is supposed to be completed prior to the CPNE under the new curriculum. It's currently paper-based, but is supposed to eventually be computer-based. But yeah, it's under the new curriculum, so you didn't have to worry about it. :)
