Applicants to Portland area schools 2011

Published

How's everyone doing with their Apps?

I applied to MHCC, CCC, PCC and Linfield.

It's my first year applying and I'm a nervous wreck!!!

How long does it usually take to hear whether or not you got an interview?

I was glad to see CCC changed their deadline to Feb 15th like the other OCNE schools-I think it'll make the waiting more bearable!

Anyone else want to share points to see how tight the competition is this year?

Other than Mt. Hood, I don't get too many discretionary points. :(

Heres what I *think* I have (figuring them myself):

MHCC-63 points

CCC-50 or 51 points depending on how they round up your gpa

PCC-54 points

Good luck everyone!!!

Let the nail biting, stalking the mailbox begin! :lol2:

Mugged the postman, jumped up and down with big envelope and wife, couldn't sleep, and can't stop smiling - OHSU it is! Still not sure how and why but I'm running with it.

I have always believed that those who win a nursing golden ticket deserve it - just never thought it would be me. See you in September - MG

Congrats Grasshopper and Kanga! It's so exciting... I can't stop smiling. I bet our class will be great; I'm so grateful for the opportunity to attend OHSU.

This just made me a little teary.

Couldn't agree more. Particularly the grateful part.

So I had me interview at MHCC this am and I'm REALLY unsure about how I did.

Everyone else seemed to do so well (and they were all VERY nice). I think my written responses were good but the presentation part was kind of a blur. I wanted to go first to get it over with but I was so nervous and I stumbled over my words just reading the question before stating my answer (I know how to read dang it!)

:(

I'm just so nervous now because I know I should have done so much better!

Hey Ginny, I had my interview with you yesterday and I think you did great!!! You were so warm and friendly with everyone, and I think that you seemed very comfortable with talking in front of the group... I hope you get in to MHCC!!! :yeah:

Hello, lovely helpful future nurses. Congrats to those of you who are getting good news already.

I was on the wait list for the Clackamas CC interviews, and I did get a call with a spot for Monday (57 points, for those of you still keeping score). Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to ask about how long the process actually takes. So, I have three questions for those of you who have been through it (or at least got the full details in your interview invite letters):

1. Is it really only 60 minutes?

2. Is that entire time for a group interview?

3. Is there an essay, or just the interview?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

Sounds silly, but are we able to write in pencil? (so we can go back and correct mistakes?)

No, it's stricktly blue or black pen only :)

Omg thanks for the feedback! (even if you're just trying to be nice! haha) You're too sweet and YOU my dear, were very warm, friendly and I was VERY impressed with your professionalism, all your volunteer work, and very through, articulate answer. I could tell you were well prepared for the interview.

I unfortunately, deal with my nervousness with humor so that could totally backfire on me but it's who I am so I'm glad I didn't hide it during the interview no matter the outcome.

Truth be told, I took an ativan to curb my anxiety (just 1mg prescribe by my dr) and it totally made me feel loopy and I don't even remember my verbal answer. I had to go straight home afterwards and sleep it off. NEVER again!

Ugh, so dumb of me to take that when I'd never taken any before!

Congrats on OHSU!!!! You'll be PERFECT for their program!! :yeah:

Has anyone who is waitlisted for Linfield heard anything back on a spot opening up? I know deposits were due May 1st, and the admissions director said it would be another week after that before she'd start making phone calls. The wait is killing me though!!

no! but I saw in another thread that someone got into the summer accelerated program--that they got a call from Linfield last week. I imagine they get the summer cohort filled first-then fall-then spring? but I know-wait is killing me!

From my understanding linfield has 30 waitlisted students for summer, 30 for spring, and those combine together to make 60 for fall.

that's my understanding too. I think some of the people in fall though that already have bachelor's degrees would want to get in the summer accelerated program? I don't know but I'm guessing linfield might move some of the fall start to summer? So i would imagine it's a bit of a cascading effect to figure out who gets what term for the waitlisters
