APN Radiology Worksheet

Published

I am having a very difficult time with my radiology worksheet assignment for Advanced Health Assessment. Anyone an expert at reading films? My instructor for the class opted to have us "self learn" how to read x-rays by reading a book, instead of having class.....I am SO LOST!!!!!!!!!! If interested I would love to let you look at a few and let me know what you think..........

Hello, ccuRNinTN and Welcome to allnurses.com

I moved your thread to the NP forum in hopes to get the best response from seasoned NPs.

I pm'd you about the X-rays. Once you send them to me, I'll attach them here for you.

my files are unable to be uploaded onto this site (they tried), it is a ppt slide or word document, i have the info saved in both formats.....

so, if anyone is interested in helping me out, send me a private message and i can e-mail you the things that i am having difficulty with. i will be so grateful!!!!

here is a link for the university of iowa radiology teaching files. its what i use when i need an example. pm me for my email. i'm pretty good at chest and belly. not so good at head and limbs. i have a hard time believing that an instructor is expecting you to teach yourself radiology. some people might be able to do it, but i sure couldn't. the trick is to learn a standardized frame of reference and a method of doing it the same way every time. for cts you have to be able to stack things in 3d in your head (which is why work stations with a scroll button are great).

good luck.

I, too, am unable to understand why on earth your instructor is leaving all of this up to ya'll to learn on your own.

As I told you in an email, you need to take these X-rays (your computer with the PP) to a radiologist or physician or a seasoned NP and let them lead you along the way of markings, findings, etc. As for documenting interpretation, you can learn that on your own by reading how in a manual/book. That's the easy part.

But, to learn how to interpret dx studies; it's not up to you to self-teach.

Good luck with this.

I have used this site and spent several days with the radiologist. My collaborating MD also helps me with scans and xrays.
