  1. I went to a Trigger Point and Large Joint injection course a while back and it was very helpful! Now I am looking for an ultrasound and or xray interpretation CME course that I could attend. Anyone know of one?
  2. i will be graduating december of this year, and i want to be sure that i am prepared for my fnp boards. i was wondering if any of you went to a review course before you took your boards? and if you did, which one? hollier, fitzgerald, etc...? was it worth your time and $$$$? *i purchased the family nurse practitioner certification review, 2nd ed by zerwekh over a year ago, it was a good review book. but now i probably need to change books. any suggestions on certification review books that you loved or disliked? thanks! :redbeathe jodie
  3. I would love to get the iPhone if I had the phone service which it requires. My husband's company uses Verizon, and I get an exceptional discount with the package deal that they have.....
  4. ok tn nurses. this bill has made it's way into the house, and it now has support from rep. debra young maggart (house member). now it is a senate bill and house bill (sb 0009/hb 1607). it has passed first and second consideration, and has been assigned to a subcommittee of the professional occupations (health & human resources) division. if we do not start writing letters to our represenatives letting them know that we oppose the use of medication technicians, this bill may continue to slide right on through.........gaining approval and eventually being passed.
  5. I am in my last year of FNP school & I will begin my clinicals in May. Our instructor suggested that we think about purchasing a Pocket Pc, Palm, etc.... for clinicals to use as one of our resources. I have no idea which one to purchase. Which one do you recommend/use? Any (+) or (-) experiences with one that you purchased? Thanks! JC
  6. no worries, i am opposing this bill 100%!! -ccurnintn
  7. i know this thread is long, but please read (if you have a moment). :bowingpur 1). i have an assignment for one of my family nurse practitioner classes, healthcare policy, that i need assistance with. [color=#5f497a](please, anyone that can help, it will be greatly appreciated)! 2). i would love for rn’s/lpn’s in the state of tennessee to help me with this, but i also need feedback from nurses in [color=#943634]all other states who have personal experience in this area. 3). i posted a thread in the “tennessee nurses” section titled: tn nurses against proposed bill (sb 0009) for "certified medication technicians"….the link is : https://allnurses.com/tennessee-nurses/tn-nurses-against-367538.html . here you will find a great deal of information regarding this bill. 4). i have to personally write a letter to senator diane black (by march 15thish) explaining the reasons that i do not agree/support this bill. 5). on april 7th i have to go to nashville for “capitol hill day” to speak with different people in legislature regarding this bill. most of the people that i will be speaking with will be members of the “senate standing committee general welfare, health & human resources.” if you are not familiar with their role, here is a link to give a bit of info: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/committees/gen-welfare.html 6). if you are from tennessee, i beg you to write to me regarding your standpoint on this issue. if you are from a state who has tried this method through a “pilot program” or if your state currently uses “certified medication technicians” i would love for you to send me any information (pro’s or con’s) on this topic. 7).i also hope that you will go to my tn nurses against proposed bill (sb 0009) for "certified medication technicians" https://allnurses.com/tennessee-nurses/tn-nurses-against-367538.html link to discuss this. 8). i will respond to each and every private message that i get as well as every post to my tn nurses against proposed bill (sb 0009) for "certified medication technicians" link. it may take me a few days, since i have several other classes to work on as well thank you so much for your time, i do appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have!!! jc
  8. i am not sure how the rest of you feel regarding this issue, personally i feel as if the delivery of medications should continue to be the responsibility of the rn (or lpn). senator diane black sponsored this bill (she is an rn????): http://www.dianeblack.org/ if this bill is passed, like many states already have (http://www.medaidesillinois.org/pdf/otherstates/statebystate.pdf), certified medication technicians will be allowed to deliver medications. link to the bill summary: http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/billinfo/billsummaryarchive.aspx?billnumber=sb0009&ga=106 link to "fiscal note"- http://www.capitol.tn.gov/bills/106/fiscal/sb0009.pdf link to your tn senate standing committeegeneral welfare, health & human resources: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/committees/gen-welfare.html link to original bill they want to "ammend": http://www.michie.com/tennessee/lpext.dll?f=templates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=tncode get out there, write to your local & government legislators!!!!
  9. i am in advanced health promotion this semester. we are having to come up with a health promotion intervention project/program. i am thinking of doing something in relation to weight management, weight los, weight education, etc.... the reason that i am choosing this topic is because my fnp thesis topic is "weight loss, qualitative – what makes people decide to lose weight?" thought i would use my time efficiently and do work that could be used twice! so............any ideas from anyone???
  10. Thanks BBFRN for giving banynurse11 info for a trial! In our Family & Community class we were required to use the GenoPro genomap program for our Friedman Family Assessment Model. Our instructors sent us a password to enter that would give us a free 90 day trial for the program. Alot of us in the class did not like this program very much. Entering the information and getting the genogram moved around so that it would fit onto an 11X8 piece of paper was quite time consuming. However, the printed genogram turned out to be very nice. It was very detailed, colorful and easy to read.
  11. :typing i started this thread when i was taking "family & community" last semester. i have not checked out this thred in while. i see that others were on here as well needing help, and i feel bad that i did not realize it! so......if anyone else ever needs help with the friedman family assessment model, just pm me. i never did find an online version of the long form, but maybe i can offer some assistance!!!!!! jc
  12. I am able to use UpToDate at work, but unfortunately I cant get onto the site from home with the hospital's account.........and I can't afford a subscription right now. I do agree, it is a wonderful site. But I am needing to be able to access sites from home. Any other ideas? Thanks for the response! I do appreciate it! Jodie
  13. I am looking for a website where I can download prescribing information for different drugs. If at all possible I would like them to be in PDF format, so I can easily download/print them. I know that certain drug manufacturers will have this information in PDF format for certain drugs, but most of them are newer brand name drugs, not generic or older drugs. Any ideas?? Thanks! Jodie
  14. I live in the Chattanooga area and I am desperately needing to find an advanced 12 lead EKG/ECG class to attend. Any ideas? I will be possibly willing to travel a small distance, or fly.......if the plane ticket does not cost me a months worth of salary;) Thanks! Jodie:redbeathe
