I am taking APHY 101 at Ivy Tech this summer and it's only an 8 week class so I wanted to get a jump start and begin researching some topics. Could anyone who has taken the course tell me what areas were covered? TIA!!!

Ahh another Ivy Tech-er!
Good luck! That's going to be super difficult cramming so much information into an 8 week session so stay dedicated and focused!

I took the class at Ivy Tech South Bend (also in eight weeks) and we covered cellular anatomy and function, skeletal system, muscular system, integumentary system, tissues, senses, and the nervous system. Nervous system was the area we spent the most time on.
Just as a heads up. It's a HARD class to take in eight weeks and moves at a rapid pace. My class started with around 19-20 students and whittled down to 9 by the final exam.

Good luck on trying it in 8 weeks. You will cover bones, muscles, basic cellular structure, and basics of the nervous system.
Yall are making me super nervous!! my advisor said it wouldn't be much harder than the 16 week course....but I guess it will be. At least I can start learning at home and study the topics at home before June gets here!! Thanks for the info...no one has a syllabus they'd be willing to email do they?
Its going to be ridiculously hard this summer, I'm a Mom to 2 boys (age 10 and 2) plus I work part time 4 days per week AND I have to take PSYC101 as well. May as well just tell myself that I won't be sleeping at all. Ugh, I'm sick just thinking about it!!!
It's not that the material is harder, it's just done in half the time so you need to be really on top of it. I recommend writing our detailed study guides, using flashcard, and pairing up with a classmate. Which campus are you at? Professor?
And it **CAN** be done. I took both A&P I and II last semester and finished with A's in both classes.
The only reason I think it's harder is trying to do it in half the time. Also with Psych 101 you will have at least two major projects to do. The final project takes some time, at least in my opinion. I had two big papers for that class plus I had a presentation to do. It's possible but hard. I took college algebra over the summer and it was online. I spent a lot of time on that class alone. Like 10 hours a week. Just make sure you get As in both classes especially if you are looking at the RN program at Ivy Tech. It's competitive.

Theycallmemmommi,
It can be done. I signed up for APHY 102 this summer and I'm a little apprehensive about taking a class like this with such tight timelines myself. I am doing well in APHY 101 right now but I feel like I'm cramming half the time. We're taking a test every 2 weeks and covering approximately 50 pages per week. I'll just take 102 now and get it out of the way. People in the program recommend completing any non-NRSG courses as early as possible because you'll have less time once you're in the program. I penciled out the courses in ASN's 2nd semester - just the 4 nursing courses alone(100, 102, 105 & 115) looks something like this if I remember correctly:
(1) 12 hour day per week,
(2) 5 hour days, and
(1) 6 hour day
If I'm off a bit, its not by much.
I just applied on April 1st for Fall and I'm digging in and taking whatever I can in advance.

Hello, Nwi Chris, this is for you. This is super late to the conversation. But I noticed that you mentioned something that I have been looking for an answer everywhere and can't find it. It is currently April 2024 and I'm in my 4th week of Anatomy & Physiology 101 online 8-week course. My midterm is tomorrow and I'm so nervous. I live in Bloomington, and the nursing program here is insanely hard to get into. Anyway, I have a lot of the credit courses that are required when a person is in the actual nursing program. What does that mean for me? does that mean that when I do finally get accepted into the nursing program that it would only take me 1 year or 1.5 years instead of 2 years. This is something I have been wondering so much. I look to the future for a lot of things, and knowing if this is the case would help.
Thank you.
