I know that this information is somewhere on this forum, but I can't find it at the moment.
What is needed to get onto an Air Force Base, I would be going to Scott.
I was under the impression all I would need would be my commissioning papers, ID, and car registration. But, my recruiter said I would need my orders. If that is the case, I won't be able to go to a base until 2 weeks until COT whereas if I needed only commissioning papers I couold go this Wednesday.

Oh heck everyone can get on Scott - ID is all you need and then you sign in as a visitor. My husband is retired Air Force and we have been there multiple times - most recently in June and all you need is a military ID card and then you just sign in as a vistor. Not a big deal at all. If in doubt, call the Security Police. Good luck.

Your commissioning documents prove you are a commissioned member of (currently) the Air Force Reserve. They alone should be (and are supposed to be) enough to get you on base. The problem is that quite often the rent-a-cops (the civilians) at the gate don't know what to do with them. I'd go to the gate with the documents and my driver's license, and then, if there was a question, go into the visitor's center for further assistance.
There has to be a reg on this somewhere. I'll find the thing.
thanks for all of the input!!!
i am going to the base tomorrow with my commissioning papers. if all else fails, 2012RN2b was kind enough to provide me with help.
