The reason you were "forced" to take English 101, is because the computer system is set up to "read" your transcript and force you to take a pre-req that it sees as missing from your courses.

Usually a meeting with the Registrar will take care of that....they can override the system. The nursing department may require English 101, but the Registrar has the final say of what counts as English 101 (and if you tested out of it, you should STILL receive credit for it.

i was in the same situation. i took ap biology in 1990. you need to request the official transcript from college board--they administer the ap, sat and clep. have them send it directly to you school. i believe the cost is $25.

anyone have experience with taking an ap exam in high school and getting credit from a community college for your score?

my situation is that i took ap english exam in high school ('98, so not 10 years yet). at my school where i got my ba degree, my score gave me 3 generic credits and exemption from engl101. so i didn't actually receive credit for that class. i did take advanced composition (engl102) in my previous degree, but just not the intro class.

now my nursing program of course requires engl101 (and 102) as a co-req, and i am really hoping i don't have to take it. i mean, it seems weird that i will be able to transfer in engl102, but still have to take engl101?

i wasn't even thinking about this, until i tried to register for my fall nursing classes and it forced me to register for engl 101 too. of course i can't find out from my school until who knows when, college closed due to a faculty strike...

Same thing happened to me with an English 101 class. I went through the process (which took forever, it was something like 6 weeks before AP got my transcript to my school because it was archived). My school was cool though. I explained the situation and they did not make me schedule it while they were waiting for the ap transcript. Good luck!

Is your question regarding getting credit for it or being able to prove you took the AP test? The AP test should show up on your transcript. It won't show a score or hours, just credit for the class.

I tested out of both semesters of Freshman English, and this does show up on my college transcript.
