January 15 deadline has passed! I am extremely nervous and excited for April 2014 to come. I've been wondering. ..why does UIC take soooo long to make decisions for our applications? I am pretty scared because I did not apply at another University, all my marbles land on this ONE basket. All I can do is hope and pray I get in. Anyone that applied, feel free to post your comments and concerns on this thread. Best of luck to everyone!
So I found this website today and read all your comments. I too, was very nervous throughout the whole process. After reading you guys received your acceptence emails and I still didnt I become even more nervous. All day I kept refreshing my email and every notification I heard my heart dropped. I got home pretty late today and told my fiancé that I was kinda sad that I hadnt received an email. He told me if its meant to be it will be. Then he suggested I check my spam just in case...... IVE BEEEEN ACCEPTED!! The worst part is I recieved the email at like 1 and ive been suffering ALLL day....so for those of you who havent received an email, CCHECK YOUR SPAMM. ANYWAY CONGRATSS to all who made it in!!!!
Oh wow I only just found this website today! Congrats to everyone that was admitted or wait listed! Either one is a great feat! :)
I was accepted to the program (to my utter surprise!), and I'm still worrying/doubting myself so I had a quick question!
This semester I'm taking 5 classes (15 credit hours) , four prospective A's but there's a slight chance that in Anatomy 2 I might end up with a C. If I were to get a C in Anatomy, would the program be able to "change their minds" in any way or take my spot away? The email stated: "Please note: Your admission is contingent upon several factors outlined in the official admission letter, not the least of which is successful completion of all nursing prerequisite courses," so could one of these factors is getting above a C? If it's relevant, I've never had a C, although my GPA is on the lower end of those accepted (3.46). What do you think?
Thank you in advance!
Congrats to all of you who got accepted, I was in your shoes last year when I got accepted. So I know how excited you all are, and for those who didn't receive acceptance, dont worry about not being accepted to UIC. This is not the end of the road for your nursing dreams and by no stretch of the imagination does it mean that you didn't get into UIC because your not smart enough. UIC is one of top Nursing School in the country, but what I have noticed from my class and the senior class is, UIC accepts it students strongly based on diversity. I know students who had 4.0 GPA’s and did not get into the program, at the same time there are many students in the program who have me wondering how they got accepted. So keep your head up, and for those who got accepted enjoy your summer because the next two years will be amazing and you will learn so much, but it will also be the arguably the most academically challenging two years of your life, I am sorry I made a mistake it will not be arguably the most academically challenging two years of your life, It will be the most academically challenging two years of your life, up to this point, but still a great experience.

Congrats, and honestly I am not sure if any one here can answer your question, my best advice will be to just call UIC, their pretty friendly and should be able to give you the best answer, I know if you were to fail or not compete a class they can withdraw your application, but I am not sure about your situation, my best advice I can you is to work really hard next semester because with clinical you will have a course work of around 21 credit hours a semester and class’ like A&P and other prerequisites like Micro, Orgo and Bio Chem are not very challenging compared to the nursing curriculum.
I also took A&P at UIC and it is kind of hard to explain until you are in nursing school. Yes A&P is challenging I do agree, but when you compare it to class' like pathology pharmacology and other nursing course, it honestly simply doesn't compare. Just when comparing the structure of the questions asked in each class, there is a clear difference. A&P questions are much more, to the most part straight forward. Were as, nursing exams are application questions, were there are multiple correct answers, but you must choose the best answer even if you can make a argument that the other answers are correct as well. So the margin for error is a lot smaller. In addition in pathology for example, you will use a lot of what you learned in Bio Chem, Orgo, Miro and A&P when understanding the material, so the amount of information asked for each exam is a lot more intensive and in detail. I also thought nursing prerequisites were challenging, until I got to nursing school then I realized I was wrong, at the same time I received a A in A&P and I lucky got all A's last semester but I had to work a lot harder for the the A's last semester then I had to in any of my prerequisites.
i was waitlisted. Im pretty disappointed to say the least. I have put in 3 years of hard work at UIC, volunteer in christ emergency room, and have my CNA. My essays were pretty good as well. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth UIC. Hopefully my wait is lifted but since i have not been directly admitted i will not pay much mind to it. keep everyone posted on my status.

@nerdienurse - I chose Urbana campus and got Urbana (took my pre-reqs here)
@csando - My cumulative is a 3.1 and no idea for the required science but I had to retake classes because I got C's in pretty much all of them. I retook them over the summers though and got A's so yeah. TONS of volunteer work as well.
So don't lose hope you guys, I didn't even make the average GPA and was blessed enough to make it in!
