Anyone work for TeamHealth?

Specialties Triage

Published

I was offered a position, and I'm accepting it. Just wanted to get some thoughts about the company from current or previous employees. Thanks in advance!

I don't think there is that much turnover. I've been there over a year now, and I can only think of a handful of nurses who have quit. There are a few there that have been there 5 years or longer. We have around 50-60 nurses, so some turnover is to be expected.

I think the 1st 3 months would be hard, it was hard for me to get comfortable with phone triage for the 1st few months. I think you would be able to do it, though. We talk to a lot of parents about sick kids, lots of coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, colds, and things like that. It is much less stressful than any nursing job I have ever had. Working from home is the best, too!

I'm curious about this too.. Can you list any other companies that do this? I considered a company in the South and the pay was like $18/hr. Is the pay comparable to a hospital setting?

What companies are doing this or is it mainly hospitals or insurance companies? Thanks

Specializes in med/surg, nursing home.

Arg928, thanks! You've been super helpful :)

No problem, oldfaithful. Rntr, there are only a few companies across the company that I have heard about that do this. I don't know the names of any others.

One other question for you if you don't mind and it is about licensure. Do they pay for your RN license and how many states do you receive calls from? Do they require you to carry many license? How is this handled with this company? Thanks

Licenses in other states are paid for by the company. You have to keep up your CEU requirements for each state.

Thanks for the reply. I traveled for over 10 yrs and I am well aware how to keep up the licenses for each state. When I worked for a managed care they decided not to pay for license in states you did not live it. This is why I questioned this.

This company realized you can't lie to your employees and get away with it. Nurses that traveled must maintain a lot of licenses and we are well aware of the requirements.

Thanks for the reply. How many states do you take calls from or are they screened in any way to determine if you can take the call? Thanks

The only state they don't allow you to take calls in without a license is CA, because the CA board of nursing is very strict. Of course a lot of the states are compact states, so your TN license is valid in those. We obtain licenses in MI, WA, PA, IN, OH, CT, and maybe a few others that I'm forgetting.

Well, I question this... There is not a state you can call without an RN license for that particular state, unless you hold a compact license and you need to live, reside, in a compact state to be considered having a "multistate" license and that state you are calling without a license for that state needs to participate in the compact states. Currently, there are 24 states that participate. Otherwise, you need a license for every state that is not in the compact states.

This is off the https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm and you can go read all about it. I worked for a company that tried to feed us that garbage of not needing a license to call any state beside the one we live in and this is wrong. If you question it, call the state board of nursing in a state you are calling and ask them "do I need a license to call members/patients" .... see what they tell you.

Thanks

Declare a Compact state as a primary state of residence!

Pass NCLEX!

Meet all requirements for licensure in that state!

Residents of non-compact states not eligible!
