I did work for them a month ago, here is the deal. We were always understaffed. It was a crisis because the corporate was highly concerned with saving money and eliminating as many CNA's as possible. I did not want want to hurt my back anymore, so I just walked out the door while on duty. You know I wasn't working there for the money (crappy pay), I was there because I cared for the residents. I would tell them jokes, make them happy and listen to them when they needed me. The floors went from 6 to 3 CNA's. Patients were neglected everyday because they had bruises apparent. And when the state paid their conventional visits, Manor Care made sure all the floors were fully staffed. So, one sunday, I just couldn't take it anymore, I don't know what hit me, but I just walked out. I walked out to save myself from being injured. I walked out because it was meant to walk out. I worked for them double shift every weekend. I am a full time student, taking 17 credit hours every semester. Bottom line is, I couldn't take their bullshitts anymore. By any means, I don't meant to discourage from joining any cult you want.

I worked for them a few years back for about 2 weeks. Very understaffed...1 aide to 20 vent/total care patients. Overalll bad experience that I don't wish to repeat ever again.

where is their actually a nursing home that keeps the place staffed? I think the only way to go as far as Nursing Assistant jobs is just to work in hospitals. I get so aggravated b/c it is hard to get in these hospitals around here (Charleston,SC) with entry level jobs like transporter, housekeeping,etc.wahhhhhhh. i give up. retail stinks. the highest pay I have found thus far has been $6.85 an hour and I laughed when they told me that was my pay when I have had experience!! Welfare, here I come!

I work for one of them in FL as an RN. As for CNA go, I found their job much easier than in a hospital (used to work as a nursing assistant in a hospital - can compare). CNAs in HCR facility have 6-7 Pts, I had 12-20 in a hospital. In a hospital I, as an CNA, had to do VSs, CBGs, EKG and report it to nurse. In HCR CNA don't do these things, they just change th Pts and give them showers (they have schedule for showers, in a hospital I had to give EVERYBODY bath).

As for facility goes, all they care about it is admittions. More money. Admit everybody, don't care if they acute, have to be in a hospital, not in a rehab facility. Only about 10% DNRs. Others full codes. We don't have even ambubag, for God's sake. Every day calling 911. I am personally sick of it, looking for a job in a hospital (at least i will have 6-8 Pts, not 27 ACUTE Pts). Always understaffed as nurses go.
