Hi I'm thinking about going to mid manhattan for the accelerated lpn program for 2008. Just wanted to know if anyone has been there or taken the entrance test and how was it?

:welcome: Welcome to these forums!
I'm going to move this thread to the New York Nurses forum, since your question is regional. My hope is that your question will accrue more responses. Good luck to you!

My mom went to mid-Manhattan almost 20 years ago and one of the LPNs at my clinical site graduated from there about 10 years ago.
I took the test for the entrance exam, it's called the C-net, in 2004 and I was called in for an interview. I didn't find the test to be difficult, it's really high school math and reading comprehension, along with basic principles of science. You can order the study guide from C-net when you register for the test. It's in-expensive and it really does reflect what is on the test.
The plus side to the program is that it is very inexpensive, it's less than 2k for everything.
The downside is that it's a full-time Mon-Fri day program and you likely will not be able to work. Also you do not receive any college credits so if you want to transition to RN later on you will be taking all of the pre-reqs for it.

All I have to say is make sure you do your reading, wheather it's on your own or in a group, because some of those teachers there were horrible, to both the teaching and nursing professions. But if you get a good one then you will have lucked out. I graduated in 2004. I hope I didn't discourage you that wasn't my intent. After all it's one of the best deals in NY. Just stay focused and on top of your game and good luck to you!
