hey...just wondering if anyone here had applied to either the manchester campus or stratham one? We can wait in misery together!
Swtooth,
Hey cute smileys.
Thanks for the encouragement about the age thing. Actually, I just met someone who is 52 in open lab this morning.
I got some scoop on the NHTI nursing program which makes me a little scared
The guy in charge of the open lab dropped out of the nursing because he said that once you start your clinicals after only 2 weeks, you're pretty much on your own at the site. He said he actually had head nurses laugh at him and tell him he was pretty much on his own because they didn't have time to answer his questions. That makes me a little hesitant and scared for patients.
Sw - How did you feel about that when you first started?

That scares me!! I am already nervous for clinicals and I definitely don't want to hear things like that!
I can tell you that that is not true of NHTI. I am not sure I understand you either, what is this person doing in open lab if they dropped out????
I will tell you that in my almost 2 years there (still have 3 weeks to go) I have only had one instructor that I did not care for and that I felt was not very useful in the clinical setting. Clinical is also what you make of it and if you are not motivated to learn and ask for different experiences then you will not get them.
One more thing I want to add is be careful about the "rumors" you here about different schools because people who end up getting kicked out are usually resentful about it and are usually the ones that spread these rumors. I will tell you that the few poeple I have seen get kicked out have been kicked out becasue of there own actions or lack there of...

Good Luck to all that are waiting for replies! I applied to NHCTC/Nashua and got wait listed. I am #6 on the wait list. They only accepted 15 students for the fall program. From what I've heard they started with 186 applicants, dwindled them down to 66, and chose 15 for the program. My friend got accepted. We were hoping to go through school together. I"m happy for her, but will miss her in class. We haven't given up hope that I may be called from the wait list. Keeping my toes and fingers crossed, and I wish all of you the very best of luck! I know the waiting is painful!! LOL!

Roumors will always be around. I have heard very good things about Concord's nursing program out in the community. Employers know they will be well prepared. I have also heard they can be "hard" on students, unforgiving and not as supportive as some may need. I didn't attend there so I can't say one way or another. What I can say is that we have a few that started at Concord and came to Laconia for various reasons and as far as I know all are doing great. One is actually the top of our class gradewise and so very smart! She is always willing to share her ideas and information and just a great addition to our class.
But then Laconia has its good and bad. Not one person has dropped since the beginning of the year and the program is small (15 for first year) so the instructors may be able to provide more tailored learning to each individual. On the other hand they did not get accreditation with the split from Berlin but I understand that is coming. The program is adding an evening clinical and I hear that will mean 8 or 16 new slots in the first year which will be very nice for those waiting to enter.
Regarding Stratham- they use state of the art computer charting programs at one clinical site and that gives them a big advantage. They actually have to train on that before starting clinical. I wish I had this opportunity!
I hope everyone goes to a school that meets their individual needs and learning styles and soon is on thier way to a great career.

Roxxy - believe me, when you're in a hurry, there is a BIG difference between 35 and 50 minutes - especially if you run into traffic or weather problems.
Stratham seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Manchester is much easier to get to. Hope this helps.
