Hello. Wanted to know if there is anyone out there waiting to hear back about acceptance to the University of South Alabama BSN-DNP program for Spring 2014. I applied for the Psychiatric Mental Health Track for Spring 2014
I am not 100% sure exactly what they are looking for stat wise. I am a second degree student also. I have a BA in Communication, an ADN and will be done with my BSN in December. I was a little aggravated by the NursingCAS. Their GPA calculation reduced my GPA as reported by my first College by 2 points! I graduated with a 3.145 in Communication. They reported it as a 2.9. I also had a 3.85 in my ADN which they reduced to a 3.77. Thankfully my BSN is a 4.0 otherwise I'm sure they would reduce it too! According to my calculations my overall GPA is a 3.6, they report a 3.4. Did anyone else have a different GPA? I am afraid this will negatively affect me. I also still have 4 classes left. I have only been a nurse a little over 2 years. Very interested to see what happens.
Hello everyone. I started the BSN-DNP Emergency track in the fall 2012. I remember being where you are right now waiting for an answer. Hang in there. I love the program. I recently went to Mobile for skills check off and it was awesome! I will offer my stats to help relieve some of your stress. CAS GPA 3.3, 8.5 years ER, ICU, Home Health, Nursing Management experience as a RN. I was accepted into both the DNP and MSN Emergency tracks and I accepted the DNP. I started out doing the 12 semester option, but changed to the 9 semester option soon after I started. I worked full time (12hr shifts) until this month when I dropped down to 2 days a week. I have my CEN now, but I did not have it when I applied. Hope this helps and good luck to you all :)

What all have stats have you seen? I have had problems really getting a notion of what baseline is roughly for admission. I spoke with USA about 6 months ago for further information. The only thing they had to offer was 3.5 for dual emergency program and better than 3.5 GPA for FNP. I have 2 years ED experience and I am a board certified emergency nurse (CEN), soon to test for certified pediatric emergency nurse. My GPA is 3.5 with 190 hours of college course work, nursing was my second degree. I hope I will get in but am planning to continually buffer my curriculum vitae with another board certification, more experience, and authoring policies and procedures for my ED which shows competent and evidenced based practice which I think would look great on a VC. Anyways, all that said, nothing we can do but wait another week or so until we all find out.
