Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.
Updated:
OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!
SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:
OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:
1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.
2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.
3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves
4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate
5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.
Oh, ohh, one more...
? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone
OK your turn....
Hi friends, i would soon be retaking my NCLEXrn and I am planning to use this thread. Would anyone please tell me how I can get all these thread? Do i have to copy one by one? or print them? I am still in problem where to get my fund for my retake....
Hi.. I do suggest that if you have your access to computer.. just keep on logging in and read one by one.. coz it's so exciting to read verything inside here.. including all the experiences they had before during and after the exam.. But if you like to copy and paste then print also alright but it has a lot of pages.. and you won't feel the way they post they thread coz some are arguing and some are sharing and some are just disturbing.. I can only say this is a great thread... Thanks to courney who started this thread..
Hi.. I just found out I passed.... Thanks for all the contributors in this thread.. I suggest to all the examiners to read from thread 1 up to the last page before you take the exam... Dont ignore the repetition of facts or topics as this will help you to remember the topics.. Please try to ask them if you are in doubt with the facts they thrown... correct everyones mistake if there is any and try to controbute as well... Thanks all... and God Bless...
HAVE THIZ IN MIND FOR NCLEX..
Do think before you answer the question
Do focus on patient, not on the nurse
Do choose an answer that acknowledge the client shows open ended
communication and encourages discussion and expression of feelings
Do pay attention to qualifying words in question stem such as first,
most, initial, highest priority, better and best.
Do look for proper sequence in actions and nursing process ADPIE.
Also, always keep in mind what question is asking you, e.g
Which option is the pt's most immediate need?... think most immediate, now remember to use Maslow hierarchy, which is physiological need first, ABC
But
if the Question says, which option should be the nurse first action/ INTERVENTION?.... then think about using five step of nursing process which is ADPIE...
desmopressin acetate (ddavp)
--is a synthetic form of antidiuretic hormone that causes increased reabsorption of water, with a resultant decrease in urine output.
--the therapeutic response to ddavp would be a decrease in serum osmolality, because more fluid is retained, and an increase in urine osmolality, because less fluid is excreted.
--hypotension may be apparent with diabetes insipidus and blood pressure may increase as extracellular fluid volume is restored.
because of the hypermetabolic state, the client with hyperthyroidism needs to be provided with
--an environment that is restful physically and mentally.
--six full meals a day that are well balanced and high in calories are required because of the accelerated metabolic rate.
--foods that increase peristalsis, such as high-fiber foods, need to be avoided.
--these clients suffer from heat intolerance and require a cool environment.
