I'm new to travel nursing...looking to get my first assignment, they are trying to send me to Chinle Hospital in Chinle Arizona. It is on an Indian Reservation and in the middle of nowhere...just wanted to know what was your experience where did you stay and how the heck did u get there?
I'm very concerned,dont know much bout rules & regs of a reservation:stone

First of all, welcome to allnurses!
I haven't worked up there, but like you said, it's on a reservation in the middle of nowhere. Canyon de Chelly is absolutely beautiful! I don't know much about it though otherwise, we occasionally get a really sick baby transferred in from up there.

I get tooooooooooooons of pts from Chinle. Tons and tons. If you take an assignment from there, we will probably talk in report!
Other than that, don't know much about it.....

My first travel assignment was in Chinle. It is out in the middle of nowhere. They are very travel friendly- I would say 80% of the entire hospital is travel staff. Be prepared for rural nursing. A lot of these patients don't have transportation or running water. They had midwives that were staffed and worked 12 hour shifts with the nurses. I really liked it, but it was quite a culture shock.
