Well, what I do is I have a set study time, and after that I make dinner and watch a movie with the husband. My daughter is still really young, so she is usually asleep by the time my hubby and I set down to watch our movie, but I spend a lot of time with her on the weekends. I don't know how relevant this will be for you since your boys are much older and are probably more independent, but I hope that it helps :).
I live and die by my organization. I religiously use two items: Google calendar and my syllabus. The key is to work ahead as much as possible. Don't wait until the last minute for anything. That includes family time and class assignments. Plan everything and put it on a calendar for all to see. That is what I love about Google calendar. You can share calendars with family/friends. It even emails you when stuff is coming up.
I don't do any school work on Sundays (except when clinicals get in the way). I study for two hours the rest of the days and go to the gym for at least an hour 5 days a week. I get at least seven hours of sleep per night. I'm not very good at keeping a tight schedule, because it just seems like some things just come up but these are my goals for each day, other things just have to fall by the wayside.

Hello all,
I am new to the boards and start clinicals in the fall. I am usually pretty good with school work and am so looking forward to learning new skills.. BUT i am worried about losing connection with my family. I am a newlywed and have teenaged twin boys. It was a difficult decision to go back to school and take away so much time from my family. I will miss the last two years of my kids being home and my husband is ridiculously supportive... hell all my men are!! What would are some strategies that have worked for you to keep the family together.
