3 Science courses (the ones needed for Nursing School) and 1 Developmental Psychology course. Costs of books not included. School is regionally accredited and I'm from out of state. Classes transfer no problem. Workload is slightly more than the standard brick-and-mortar course but to me, is way way easier. I have a 80-90% chance of getting A's in all 4 classes because I'm good at working alone.
Is $2000 in a single semester pushing it or did I get a good deal? Would people spend that much for distance learning? Is it worth it?

Considering the distance science courses I have seen are around $1500 for one class, I would call this a bargain.

If these are standard 3-credit undergraduate courses, from a reputable school, $2000 is DIRT CHEAP! I paid closer to $500/credit for some of mine.
Are you sure it isn't $2000/class ? :)
Even if you spend $400 on 4 textbooks it's still a good deal.

Well, my A&P classes through distance education were 600 before books. I bought mine second hand, but the book and lab manual was 450 in the bookstore.
I'm in first year nursing, and my semesters are 4-5 classes, 1200 CAD. So to me this sounds like a lot, but of course its going to differ by the country/state/city you live in.

If this is a University then youre getting a really good deal. But if this is a community college then its way too much. I got my first undergrad degree from one of the Big 10 universities and spent close to $600 PER CREDIT HOUR.
So yes, excellent deal!
5 credits for Microbiology, 4 for General Anatomy and Physiology respectively. 3 for Developmental Psych...
Unfortunately, this is at a community college....
@cali and coast....
$1500 to 2000 for a single class?! Is that even possible?
A little under $200 for books, lab materials, and so on. Just calculated.

Check out the fees for the prerequisite courses at UNE. They just increased on Aug. 15. : University of New England - COM - Online Education - COM Online Education
Ooooh yeah it's possible. Unfortunately. You don't want to know how much grad credits can cost ...
I don't know what the expected price difference is with a community college.
Yup its very possible. I did it for an entire degree.
But personally, I think that you have an excellent deal here. The CC I used to attend before I transferred to my university was about $76/credit. So I usually ended up spending between $1500 and $2000 a semester. Seems like the standard CC cost to me. And you also have to remember that online courses come with extra fees (I believe at my old CC it was about an extra $15/credit for online courses).

CC credit costs vary widely. in some states they are as low as $50 per credit hour, in others, as high as $200 per credit hour.
Well, I'm relieved that $2000 is about average for these online classes. Star, you are correct. Online classes usually come with costs such as technology fees.
I think if anyone is finishing up GE and pre-reqs then it's best to finish it at some CC because of its lower costs. I mean...as long as it's regionally accredited and transfers fine, then that's all that counts! But perhaps if you're a grad student and need to finish Biochemistry or Pathophysiology in a short time span, then it might be worth the costs of taking it online at a university. I really don't know. I'd hate to know the costs of grad school though.
I just can't believe some no name institution like the University of New England wants students to shell out $1540 for a single GE class. Their Statistics course tops out at $1286! BYU Independent Study has something similar at a half of those costs, is four credits, and can be taken as long as a year as well. Makes me wonder sometimes...
