Hello! I'm going to take the NCLEX RN on the 19th. I am really nervous about the test considering things have changed after April 1 on the NCLEX.
For those of you who have taken the NCLEX - RN, what is the exam like? What percentage of questions were select all that apply or the dreaded drag and drop? Where there drug calculation questions?
As for me, I am studying probably 3-8h a day with the saunders question cd, ATI online, and kaplan. Sometimes I read the book, but mostly I'm doing the questions and reading the rationales. I feel discouraged because I feel like I average anywhere from like 65% - 80% correct in my practicing questions. I wanna strive for an 80% and up but I don't always make it there. I know it is impossible to know everything about nursing before going into that exam, but I am so terrified to fail because I have a job lined up and I would lose that opportunity. I mostly get the select all that apply questions wrong in my practice.
How prepared did you all feel before going into the exam? How much percentage of questions did you get correct while practicing?
I took the test last month and passed in 75 questions. I did not find the test questions horribly confusing. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I had 7-10 SATA, SATA on couple of Pharm questions, lots of core questions. I felt like I had the knowledge to fiqure out the answers, so none of the topic areas where just out of left field. But I really depended on understanding patho for core content as I had to critically think through many of the questions.
The things that were helpful in my studies were Hurst Review, Feuer Review, test taking strategies, Davis RN Success cd, and ATI. I also did the La Charity book. I used Feuer for content review for about 85% of my content. I did not read any content book, just listened primarily to Feuer, and used the workbooks that came with the course. I used Hurst when I needed another reference.
For SATA, I used Davis RN Success cd, and used Feuer tips on how to practice for the exam. All answers were looked at to make sure I had the core concepts down, and was not just using the single answer choice as a crutch.
Hello I am taking my nclex exam soon. I am very nervous I have been out of school for three years. I am currently getting ready to graduate from grad school. So I opt to go straight to graduate school instead of taking my boards. Now the time is growing near there is no way around it lol. So where can I find pratice questions like drag and drop, audio and mini charts. please help!!! Thank you in advance..
I took my exam after April 2013. I liked the following: ATI exams to find weak areas. Davis Success for focused questions, and assistance in how to break down questions and understand what was being asked.
I also liked the Feuer cds. I listened to the cd's, took the ATI test for the area I was studying, and then used the Davis Success book to focus only on the areas I was weak on for the ATI specific test. When my scores were good on the Davis Success, I would retest with the ATI test for the area I was reviewing, and I would take the exam for the Feuer cd that I just studied for.
The Feuer questions were all mixed up based on the area you are studying for exam, med surg, peds, psych, etc. So I would use the Feuer questions for each area to gauge to test my knowledge, and the Davis Success to practice in specific areas for med surg for example that I was weak in. I knew which areas I was weak in because the ATI test for med surg would return my breakdown or percent scores in each area.
I also used La Charity, which I would recommend going over the first 15 chapters.
Also, remember to select each answer as an individual t/f answer, and to understand why a certain answer was selected and not selected.
For me the trick to passing was Feuer, and finding my weak areas and focusing on just those items.
I passed first time out with 75 questions. It was important to understand what was being asked in the question, and Davis RN Success taught me how to break down the question. I used a book I got from the library. It was an old version (2 or 3), but I liked it.
All the best.

I took the NCLEX this week and just like you I had 265 question and failed. I had soo many select all and put in order, no OB/Pedi/ Calculations. I did the kaplan review and was scoring above 60% and was feeling confident. I want to know if you were successful your 2nd time and if you have an advice. Thank you
