Hi, I'm planning on taking the test for the ADN program at HCC in March 29th. and I was wondering if someone could give me, like an example of a question. I think I'm all good in the Math and English section of the test but could anyone tell me what kind of questions they ask for the Bio, chem, or A&P. Just like for example.
If you could, I'd appreciate it but if you can't I guess I'll just do a little more research....

Hello,
I am in the same boat as you . I am also scheduled to take the HESI this saturday coming up at HCC Coleman campus. You will not be tested over Biology or Chemistry, but you will be tested on: Grammar, Reading, A&P, and Math. So just focus on those specific areas. Are you studying the HESI study guide? Everything looks pretty basic and from what I've heard, the test is like that as well. I am studying my heart out this week for the A&P section. I have faith I will be ok! :heartbeat

Hey txgrl, thx for replying.
I wanted to ask, are you sure they won't ask questions for BIO and CHEM? I ordered the HESI admission assessment book from ONLINE and they got some questions about CHEM and BIO.
Maybe this study guide is not the one they use at HCC? Cuz I heard other schools, the testing is different. I just want to make sure I study for all the sections.

all the questions on the test are exactly like the study guide. Don't stress it's really easy!

I checked when I went to the school to pay and sign up for the HESI. I wanted to make sure as well. Also, at the HCC website it clearly states the sections and what your minimum scores are needed in order to enroll for pharmacology:
Math: 75
Reading Comprehension: 70
Grammar: 75
Anatomy & Physiology: 60
I would def. stick to that. If the study guide instructs you to look some additional info up (like for A&P) just refer back to your book. I hear its very basic, just study and you will be fine.

All right, kool. Thx for the help txgrl. I was really worried about the chemistry part. anyways, good luck on the test.
You too!

Hey, I'm taking this test on Saturday, too. I hear that the math section has a built-in basic calculator (it's all a computer based test). Does anyone know if that's true? It would def save some time if it's the case...
I've got the HESI admission assessment study guide. It's pretty basic, but has been good for getting the math up to scratch!
A girl in my Micro class took it a few weeks ago at HCC. She did say that you can take your own calculator and scratch paper!! BUT I think I will shoot the ADN secretary an email asking for sure. As soon as I hear back I will post her reply.
Anyone out there know what exactly they ask for A&P?? Thats what I'm really focusing on and I just dont know how in depth to go!! Everyone keeps saying its VERY basic. Anyway, just to be safe... I am refering to diagrams, books, etc.
That would be great, thanks!
As for A&P, the guide I have from HESI goes over the main systems. If you just go over each system you probably can't go wrong. Also, the guide says to learn the parts of a cell (from Bio 1, from memory) and on some other threads here I've read to brush up on DNA.
How long has everyone been studying?
lol, I promised myself to use this whole month into studying for the test but I got kinda of lazy and now i started a week ago. Now this is the last week, gotta keep my head in the books.
By the way, txgrl u know any good free parking space? I know theres a parking lot in front of the building but i think its like 10 bucks to park in there. If not, guess the test N the parking costed me a total of 35 bucks
