Hi, just found out I might be taking this entrance exam. Has anyone taken it? If yes, how hard was it? How hard would it be to score a 320 overall and a 75 percentile in each subject area? Does it compare to the TEAS (I took that last month and it wasn't bad)? Thanks!

It's not that serious (except for the science!) It also depends on which exam you are taking. I took the PSB-HOAE and the difference from the PSB-RN and PSB-PN there's no comprehensive judgement in nursing situations section just a vocational adjustment section. So you will have 1 section (Academic Aptitude) consisting of: Verbal-which word is not like the other, NonVerbal-which picture is not like the other, and Math-basic algebra word problems. The Reading Comprehension section is very easy, DO NOT READ THE PARAGRAPHS!!! you will lose time. Just look at the questions and find the answers in the paragraphs. Spelling is too easy (depending on your skills), basically which word is spelled correctly and there are some tough ones and long words but just follow your spelling rules. That Science is rough. You probably will not see any A&P type questions, they will all be Chemistry and Physics type questions, you will also have to do a temperature conversion. I know you may have gone to the PSB website, but the sample specimen questions they have is nothing like what's on the test-and that's for all the sections. And like I said the judgment comprehension section you take depends on which exam you're taking. But that test really isn't that difficult, just brush up on your chem and physics. The rest of it (to me) really insults your intelligence.

Thanks for your input, I guess I should add I'd be taking the RN version. :)

There's nothing you can do to study for that test. It's basic knowledge. It's one of those things where either you have it or you don't.

I just took the PSB RN on Monday and it really wasn't all that bad. I also bought the ARCO book and I think it definitely helped. I really focused on the arithmetic because I had forgotten a lot of basic stuff with fractions and what not. I didn't think the science portion was too bad but it definitely helps to brush up on the items in the ARCO book. I also had a temperature conversion so make sure you know the formula! Good Luck!!!!

Thanks alot I should be getting the study material by this Friday. I asked my school what do you need to score to land a spot. They are taking the top 80 scores. They have only adminstered one test and the scores range from 90-220-- I know two girls that took the test and 1 got a 135 and the other got 185-- so that makes me even more nervous-- I thought the test was based on precentiles-- Do you know what is the most you can get on the test?:p

Thanks to all of you that mentioned temperature conversions! It's been so long since I used these in high school, that I forgot everything about them. I just freshened up on my skills and feel a lot better about taking the exam in a few weeks! :) I just dread fractions as a whole.
