It looks like I'm registered for N351 for Spring B. Anyone else taking the plunge? I'm only taking one course this semester because I have (unless they take it away) tuition reimbursement that will cover the cost while I set the rest of my funds in order.
I'm quite a bit nervous. I keep saying, "what am I doing?". I'm trying to further my education, make myself more marketable (nursing sure is changing) and getting my feet wet in case I do decide to go further. If I was younger I'd go for NP ..... I'd be all over that. Maybe I'll further that education with an MSN Nurse Educator. Maybe I'll decide the BSN is the stopping point. Who the heck knows! I've got experience to beat the band..... but I'm nearing 50 so I'm trying to be realistic.

I am thinking about it! I am trying to select a school this week and am pulling my hair out with the decision.
I had already signed up for University of Phoenix, received an A in my first class but was VERY disappointed and frustrated - so plan to change schools. I don't want to make the same mistake again. I am comparing Chamberlain to Utica and perhaps a few others...
I am 44 yrs old and wish I had done this sooner, so I feel rushed. I would like to go on to get my master's in something- not sure what yet.

I too have signed up for this class, I think. I am starting with Transitions session B on the 26th. Like you, I keep asking myself "what am I doing and more importantly why". I have not taken a class in years and I certainly have no idea of how to post a discussion, you are actually my "first practice". I am wondering how difficult this wil be, I don not even know how go use Powerpoint, etc. This is a very expensive program to learn it may be too advanced for me. Have you taken on-line calsses before, do you know of anyone who has started out as a newbie? Well, I guess I'm going to have to figure it all out by the end of the month. Anyone out there know how difficult this will be?

Good luck to you all! I'll be finishing up with Chamberlain this coming session and have really liked the program. I started last July and the time has flown by!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I think I'm gonna need them. :)
To answer some questions:
I chose Chamberlain partly due to this forum and a girl at work is doing the program, working full time and enjoying it. She said, as many do here, that it's writing intensive, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. I'd also looked into a few local universities and in the long run the cost would be the same. The cost of the credit per hour vs. the amount of classes to take put Chamberlain in the same ballpark. The school is accredited so I feel it will be fine. :/
I've never taken an online class before. I have posted all over the web so I think the posting won't be an issue if I can participate in the graded discussions with some items that are worthy of being graded. I'm nervous about it all now.
Power point is easy, yet complicated. Ha ha does that help? I've done a few for the middle management job I have now. I have to justify staffing, costs, hours of operation, etc., so I present graphs, numbers, projections and the like. How did I learn, trial and error.
I've wanted to get my BSN for 15 years, why, that's a good question. I feel it makes me a bit more marketable and if push comes to shove, I need it for my job, to keep my job in this ever changing health care market. There have been positions I was unable to apply for due to not having a BSN. I have dreams of becoming a NP, but I'm creeping up in age and who knows if I'll go that route. I've got a window of opportunity between one child graduating from college and one a year away. This is my year. Can I afford it? Not really. Would life be easier if I didn't go back to school online or otherwise? Sure! But, I'm forging ahead anyway.
My adviser has been wonderful making things less complicated. You can find a great group here that is in or has done the program online who are willing to help. So far so good. I worry, but I'm jumping in the big pool without water wings. Come on join me, we can hold each other up. Hope to "see" you in class.

I am just finishing up with my first class which was Transitions. This was also my first on line class & I am not computer savvy & have no clue how to use power point etc ......
I was also so nervous. Chamberlain is so organized & the on line classes are so easy to get around & post. Most of the people in my class felt the same was as you & I. My instrucor was awesome I had tons of questions which she answered & explained things so well. You will be fine
Lori, thank you. I am not just anxious about starting this class, I’m anxious because it’s a “commitment to a program”. As I have said, it has been awhile since I attended school. When I read “writing intense” I start to think, Oh no, how and where will I start and if there is that much writing, how am I going to get all done. Like most, I work full time and have other commitments. I would much prefer to study and then take a multiple-quess test. I’m not sure I’m the “paper writing” type. All of the posts I have read have said the classes are doable, but are they difficult? Will I spend hours researching and formulating a response? As I said, this is a commitment and an expensive commitment. I was glad to read in your post that Chamberlain is very organized and helpful because I will need the assistance!

I'm right there with you. Feel free to PM me and we can exchange email.

I am taking it slow - 1 class at a time. I need 10 classes but the semesters are only 8 weeks long. I think at the begining yes it will take time to figure out how to write a paper & formulate a response in the discussion threads. The good thing is is that you know what to expect right from the start. I slowly starting working on my paper the 2nd week so it wasn't to overwhelming. Then I did my first discussion response on Sunday it was not due until Wed.
PM? What is PM? I did tell you I have limited knowledge, didn't I?
