Anyone starting at Broward Community College in Jan '08?
Thank the LORD I am out of that school. That school gets worse and worse as you go thru the program... only the strongest survive. Our class started with 50 and only 11 graduated (not including me, because I got behind one semester because I got 80% on a math test... when I was suposed to get a 90%). You have to want it, breathe it, and live in that school to make it to the end. Study study study your butt off ... because failing can happen to anyone, even the people you think are smart.
Hopefully I'll be starting Spring of '09!!!!!!
I started Spring '08. It can be a little challenging to get info about the program before you start attending. So, if you need info, feel free to post here or send me a personal message. Good luck and be sure to use this year to get your afairs in order. Also, is you can take micro and pharm before entering the program. You can take pharm online at the central campus or at PBCC and transfer it to BCC. You'll thank yourself later b/c the first semester is intense.

I agree! that first semester you find out who has what it takes to be a nurse.
nursing school does not show you if you have what it takes to be a good nurse, it shows you if you are a good student. nursing is an art and science and a touch and an eye acquired over time. that is what the old timers tell me. the old timers who take the time with their patients and hold hands and dry tears and listen to endless stories, those nurses who never seem to tire, have 4 hands and pockets full of treasures everywhere. those are the voices i have been lucky enough to hear. nursing school is trial by fire. do you want it bad enough to put up with the mental and physical torture to reach the begining of the true path. do not get confused and do not despair.

this is very true! if you want to be a nurse bad enough to put up with the torture they put us true, then you are probably meant to be a nurse.
dreamon,
I am an RN already, but I had a hard time getting into Miami Dade college, that infact, I was rejected from there 5 times.
I applied to NOVA, met their requirements, went to interview, and was accepted.
I applied to Manatee community college in bradenton, FL. I transfered all my credits from miami dade college, was accepted and was on the waiting list for 1 year.
I applied to BrowardCC and at the time there was a waiting list, I waited a year and 8 months before starting the program (and I finished that program). they have since taken away that wait list.
Most colleges in miami/Ft lauderdale area accept students based on GPA.
Miami dade college, barry, FIU, keiser university, city college
The easiest school to get into, I think would be University of Miami, because they take you with min. requirements.
hope this helps you
